New expansions always bring new weapons, and The Final Shape was no exception. In fact, there have been so many absurdly powerful weapons released in the past couple of weeks that some have already been forgotten. Namely, the reissued Season of Dawn weapons!
Previously community-wide fan favorites, this set of weapons has made its grand return to the game, featuring updated perk pools, and in the case of one, a new element. Today, we’ll talk about that one, which also happens to be arguably the most popular of the Season of Dawn weapons: Breachlight.

How good is Breachlight
While sidearms as a whole have typically been off-meta picks at best (with the exception of rocket-powered variants), Breachlight’s rare two-burst frame allows it to excel past some of the competition.
In PvE, Breachlight likely won’t attract anyone who’s not already a sidearm fan. While its updated perk pool and Strand element allow it to excel with a handful of builds, other meta-defining options blow Breachlight out of the water.
Breachlight falls into relatively the same category in The Crucible. While it does have its strengths and can prove potent in the right hands, there’s little reason to experiment with this when so many powerful (and craftable!) options exist.

Breachlight PvE god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Fluted Barrel (also good: Corkscrew Rifling) |
Magazine | Tactical Mag |
Perk 1 | Demolitionist |
Perk 2 | Desperate Measures (also good: Adrenaline Junkie) |
Masterwork | Reload Speed |
We’ll start our PvE roll with Fluted Barrel, Tactical Mag, and a reload speed masterwork for a nice sweep of stat bonuses. The masterwork can easily be replaced with something else if you prefer, but in our eyes, nothing else is really necessary.
As for the main perks, we prefer Demolitionist in the first column and Desperate Measures in the second. The latter excels due to its relatively long timer (7s) and synergizes relatively well with Demolitionist. However, the tried and true combo of Demolitionist and Adrenaline Junkie also proves potent if that’s more your style.
Recommended Loadout: Breachlight, Still Hunt, Apex Predator.
Breachlight PvP god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Smallbore |
Magazine | Accurized Rounds |
Perk 1 | Threat Detector or Perpetual Motion |
Perk 2 | Swashbuckler |
Masterwork | Stability |
For PvP, we’re mostly looking for a balance of range and stability. As a result, we’ll start with Smallbore, Accurized Rounds, and a stability masterwork. We’ll opt for this masterwork as the +10 range from the alternative only grants an extra half meter of range.
For your third column perk, it’s a toss-up between Threat Detector and Perpetual Motion. Both provide very similar buffs and are relatively easy to trigger, but you should choose whichever one seems to be more consistent with your play style. As for your final perk, Swashbuckler gives you the most bang for your buck, providing an easy two-burst after a melee kill.
How to get Breachlight
Breachlight is one of a couple of reissued Season of Dawn weapons released with Episode 1: Echoes. You can focus Breachlight at the H.E.L.M. through Failsafe or obtain it through the Enigma Protocol activity.
Focusing the weapon will cost you 4 Echo Engrams and 3,000 Glimmer, whereas focusing a Reprisal Weapon Engram (which will result in a random Dawn weapon) costs only 1 Echo Engram. We cover all Season of Dawn weapons here.
