Linear fusion rifles have had a solid place in the meta for a couple of years now. And while they’ve fallen off slightly recently due to the rise of rocket and grenade launchers, they still offer solid total damage and can pack a punch in the right situation.
Today, we’ll be covering a linear fusion rifle reissued this episode from the days of Season of Dawn: Line in the Sand.

How good is Line in the Sand
While Line in the Sand doesn’t top the linear fusion rifle charts (and the weapon type as a whole has been on a steady decline as of recent), it proves to be a solid option if you’re a player who doesn’t have access to much else.
Line in the Sand’s variety of damage perks carry it to a solid spot in PvE overall. While there’s a host of both LFR and non-LFR options that are far and away better than it, this weapon is an alright pick for newer players.
As for The Crucible, Line in the Sand falls into the same category as other heavy LFRs. While they get the job done, other options are far easier to use with little to no downsides.

Line in the Sand PvE god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
Battery | PERKS |
Perk 1 | Rapid Hit (also good: Clown Cartridge) |
Perk 2 | Bait and Switch (also good: Reservoir Burst) |
Masterwork | Handling |
To optimize total damage, we’ll start with Fluted Barrel, Liquid Coils, and a handling masterwork. While it’s not the best combo in the world, Rapid Hit and Bait and Switch are typically your best bets for your two main perks.
The combination of Clown Cartridge and Reservoir Burst is also worth mentioning here, as the former grants additional shots of Reservoir’s 25% increased damage. However, unless you don’t have the weapons required to do a solid damage rotation, this pick generally isn’t worth it.
Recommended Loadout: Izanagi’s Burden, Indebted Kindness, Line in the Sand.
Line in the Sand PvP god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Chambered Compensator |
Battery | Accelerated Coils |
Perk 1 | Under Pressure |
Perk 2 | Opening Shot |
Masterwork | Charge Time |
In PvP, we’ll opt for decreased charge time and additional accuracy with Chambered Compensator, Accelerated Coils, and a charge time masterwork.
From there, Under Pressure and Opening Shot grants us even more accuracy, which is really all you need for a heavy LFR in PvP.
How to get Line in the Sand
Line in the Sand is one of a couple of reissued Season of Dawn weapons released with Episode 1: Echoes. You can focus it at the H.E.L.M. through Failsafe or obtain it through the Enigma Protocol activity.
