Destiny 2 Scintillation: God Rolls & How to get it

by | Jun 5, 2024

The Final Shape is here, and what better way to kick things off than to look at all the fancy new loot up for grabs? While some weapons are bound to be flops, there seems to be an unprecedented amount of promising options coming with this DLC, so having in-depth knowledge of each one is extremely important.

Let’s take a look at one of these new weapons that’s gained major attention from the endgame PvE community: Scintillation.

Chapters

How good is Scintillation going to be?

While Scintillation doesn’t break the general mold set by previous linear fusion rifles, it excels past its competition in the ways that count.

In PvE, Scintillation is one of the best linear fusion rifles out there. Despite the current meta-favoring rocket launchers and heavy grenade launchers, the top LFRs continue to hold their ground in some situations. Scintillation is an easy addition to those options.

In The Crucible, Scintillation falls flat because of its ammo slot and weapon type. Simply put, there’s rarely a reason to run a heavy linear fusion rifle in PvP. Overall, we expect Scintillation to be S-Tier in PvE and C-Tier in PvP.

  • Origin Traits: Stunning Recovery, Vanguard’s Vindication, Veist Stinger

Scintillation PvE god rolls

PvE Roll: All-Around
Barrel Fluted Barrel
Battery Ionized Battery
Perk 1 Rewind Rounds (also good: Envious Assassin)
Perk 2 Bait and Switch (also good: Surrounded)
Masterwork Handling

Scintillation is a monster in PvE. To gain some extra handling and another shot in the magazine, we’ll go with Fluted Barrel, Ionized Battery, and a handling masterwork. From there, whether or not you choose Rewind Rounds or Envious Assassin for column one is situational. However, we generally recommend Rewind Rounds simply because it’s what makes Scintillation unique.

Lastly, the easy choice for your final perk is Bait and Switch. However, Surrounded is also available and offers a higher damage increase, making it a better pick if you can reliably proc it.

Recommended Loadout: Izanagi’s Burden, Zaouli’s Bane, Scintillation.

Scintillation PvP god rolls

PvP Roll: All-Around
Barrel Arrowhead Brake
Battery Accelerated Coils
Perk 1 Rapid Hit
Perk 2 Hatchling
Masterwork Stability

Scintillation has nearly nothing going for it in PvP, but that doesn’t mean we can’t try our best to make it better.

Arrowhead Brake, Accelerated Coils, and a stability masterwork all provide some much-needed stat buffs to the weapon. From there, there are zero stand-out perks in either column for The Crucible. We chose Rapid Hit for added stat bonuses and Hatchling for an extra bonus on kill, but both of these still do very little for the weapon in PvP.

How to get the Scintillation

Scintillation is a part of the Nightfall loot pool, meaning it follows the Nightfall loot rotation and only appears once every few weeks. After you obtain your first copy of the weapon, you can directly purchase additional copies from Zavala in the Tower. We cover all Nightfall Weapons available today here.
