Destiny 2 Still Hunt: How to get this Top-Tier Exotic

by | Jul 17, 2024

Super abilities are one of the few things that make each of the three Guardian classes unique. From placing a Well of Radiance during a DPS phase to using Thundercrash as a method of brute force against foes, each one adds a distinct and meaningful flavor to the sandbox.

With The Final Shape, it seems Bungie is challenging the idea of keeping these fantasies divided. The best example of this happens to be an exotic sniper that’s defining the PvE meta right now: Still Hunt.

How to get Still Hunt: Destined Heroes

Obtaining Still Hunt is relatively simple, as long as you know what you’re doing. Begin by completing The Final Shape’s campaign, at least through the Iconoclasm mission.

Upon doing so, you should have access to the Destined Heroes questline, which you’ll need to complete the first couple of steps for. Keep moving through the quest until Cayde prompts you to visit him in The Pale Heart’s Tower, which is when he’ll give you the Wild Card quest. This is the quest that directly rewards Still Hunt.

How good is the Still Hunt exotic?

Still Hunt’s exotic traits are the following:

  • Cayde’s Retribution: Pick up Orbs of Power or land precision hits to charge this weapon’s Super bar. Once full, hold reload to fire Golden Gun shots.
  • Sharpshooter: This weapon gains passive bonuses to target acquisition, aim down sight speed, and flinch resistance. The bonus increases when this weapon’s super mode is active.
  • Golden Munitions: This magazine gains bonus ammo whenever a Golden Gun shot is acquired.

Especially considering Still Hunt’s synergy with Celestial Nighthawk (an interaction that was nerfed with Echoes Act 2, but is still absurdly powerful), Still Hunt is the king of DPS in the current meta. Even if you’re not a Hunter, recent bosses (The Witness in particular) have been designed in a way that allows the weapon to excel past competition on other classes as well.

While Still Hunt definitely isn’t as potent in The Crucible, it’s still an all-around powerful sniper that can prove lethal in the right hands. Of course, you’ll still need to be able to hit your shots, but if you’ve got good aim, Still Hunt’s stats and perks bring lots to the table.

Overall, Still Hunt is S+ tier in PvE and A tier in PvP.
