Reissued with the Renegades DLC, Astral Horizon is a
Kinetic Aggressive Shortgun that can be farmed by participating in Trials of Osiris. This may be Astral’s 4th reprisal, but it’s as strong as always thanks to its many quality perks. This guide covers its place in the current Meta, top rolls for PvE and PvP, and how to farm it.

How good is Astral Horizon
Astral Horizon is obtainable from PvP, so naturally, that’s where it does its best work. Shotguns in PvE aren’t seeing the usage of days gone by, but if you need a Kinetic option to bring the damage and synergize with a Melee build, Astral Horizon is decent to have in the back pocket.
For PvP, it holds every desirable perk to match the current sandbox and meta. Recent changes have seen more range-focused weapons being the dominating force, but if you can get up close and personal, Shotguns can still make a big difference in tipping the scales in your team’s favor. Perk combinations such as Slideshot and Opening Shot are an instant green flag when it comes to this archetype. Astral Horizon is C-Tier for PvE and A-tier for PvP.

Astral Horizon PvE god roll
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Barrel Shroud |
| Magazine | Assault Mag |
| Perk 1 | Stopping Power (also good: Threat Detector, Lead from Gold) |
| Perk 2 | One-Two Punch (also good: Vorpal Weapon) |
| Masterwork | Handling |
| Origin Trait | Roar of Battle |
Astral Horizon can take advantage of the new perk, Stopping Power, in this god roll, and that sets it apart from other options in PvE.
Start with Barrel Shroud to enhance Stability and Handling, then pair it with Assault Mag for a further Stability boost and an increase in RPM, allowing shots to be fired more rapidly. The Stability bonuses help keep the barrel down as you bear down on your targets for follow-up shots.
Stopping Power is a new perk with Renegades, and this comes in as it increases damage to enemies with low health. This is the perfect pair to One-Two Punch, which increases Melee damage by 150% after hitting the target with all pellets in the blast, so ensure you are right in your target’s face so all shots land to get the major benefits from this perk.
Astral Horizon PvP god roll
| PvP Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Smoothbore |
| Magazine | Accurized Rounds |
| Perk 1 | Slideshot (also good: Threat Detector) |
| Perk 2 | Opening Shot (also good: Closing Time) |
| Masterwork | Range |
| Origin Trait | Fleet Footed |
Always a solid choice in PvP, this god roll takes Astral Horizon to the next level. Start with a focus on Range, which Smoothbore and Accurized Rounds excel at, adding +25 Range before moving on to the main perks. While Smoothbore will have drawbacks, it ensures that Guardians will not expect its potency from usually safe positions.
The main perk set opens with Slidesho,t which grants 20 Range and Stability after a slide. Not only are the stat boosts significant, but a fast ‘slide and blast’ coming around a corner can be massively effective in quickly picking off the enemy team. Finish off with Opening Shot for added Aim Assist, Accuracy bonuses, and a massive +25 to Range. With the additional Masterwork, max Range is in touching distance, which is an excellent thing to have in the back pocket when it comes to difference makers in PvP.
