How good is Roar of the Bear
Roar of the Bear stands tall as arguably the best High-Impact Frame in Destiny 2. Powerful in both PvE and PvP, we’d definitely label this one as a must-have god roll to hunt down when Iron Banner rolls around.
Double damage is the immediate standout in PvE, with perks like Explosive Light in the first column and then a choice of Pod or Cluster Bombs in the second. This is not a common occurrence on Rocket Launcher, adding a unique twist to the weapon. This ensures Roar of the Bear is suitable for any level of Destiny content.
Its power transfers over to PvP by adding desirable perks in both slots and then extra damage to cause mayhem for your enemies when trying to escape its powerful volleys. Roar of the Bear is A-Tier for PvE and A-Tier for PvP.

Roar of the Bear PvE god roll
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Quick Launch |
| Magazine | Impact Casing |
| Perk 1 | Explosive Light (also good: Reconstruction) |
| Perk 2 | Reaper’s Tithe (also good: Bipod, Cluster Bombs) |
| Masterwork | Velocity |
Taking advantage of its double damage offering, we need to ensure Rockets are getting to the target as fast as possible, so Quick Launch is the perfect starting point with its Velocity increase and added Masterwork for a further boost. Impact Casing adds a damage boost for rocket direct hits, so it is an essential perk for getting the most out of this weapon.
You will need a way to feed Explosive Light with your build or Fireteam setup, as it requires Orbs of Power to ramp up. A maximum of 7 stacks means each Rocket on its own will carry an extra 25% damage buff, with each volley consuming a stack. Reaper’s Tithe is similar, where it requires multiple final blows from your loadout, and it will stack up to 4, giving a massive 40% damage bonus. At full tilt, this pairing will cause massive damage to your enemies.
Roar of the Bear PvP god roll
| PvP Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Quick Launch |
| Magazine | High-Velocity Rounds |
| Perk 1 | Impulse Amplifier (also good: Tracking Module |
| Perk 2 | Cluster Bombs (also good: Vorpal Weapon) |
| Masterwork | Velocity |
Focusing on Velocity is the key to this godroll,l so start with Quick Launch in tandem with High-Velocity Rounds and a Velocity Masterwork. This is an immediate +30 right out of the gate. This essential boost will ensure rockets hit hard and fast, giving enemies little chance to react or dodge.
Impulse Amplifier adds further Velocity, pushing the stat to near maximum in play. Cluster Bombs work perfectly here, as the surrounding blasts from the Cluster Bombs can deal significant damage to enemies grouped up or help clean up a shot that didn’t get the takedown in the first blast.
Tracking is a nice alternative which can help shots from distance meet their mark, and with reasonable Velocity, it can do good work for the team. Vorpal Weapon a niche choice but will cause extra damage to Guardians in their super, turning the tide of battle.
