While outshined by some newer additions, The Ringing Nail returns to us with a perk package you won’t want to miss. Rolling with Incandescent in column 3, this is arguably the best Solar auto rifle out there.

How good is The Ringing Nail
While outclassed by their Adaptive counterparts, Precision Auto Rifles are a mainstay in the PvE sandbox, a true workhorse class of weapons. The Ringing Nail, now new and improved, is amongst the upper crust of this sub-archetype. It has the Solar perks we’ve come to love over the years and some old standbys that let it flex between a potent AoE role and a raw damage dealer.
As for PvP, it now has access to barrel options, letting it round out some of its lesser stats and turning it into a rather solid pick. The Ringing Nail is A-Tier for PvE and B-tier for PvP.

The Ringing Nail PvE god roll
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
| Magazine | Flared Magwell |
| Perk 1 | Incandescent or Heal Clip |
| Perk 2 | Onslaught or Burning Ambition (also good: Firefly) |
| Masterwork | Reload Speed |
With how low the base handling is here, we’ll want to raise it as much as possible to make the gun feel less awkward to use. To that end, Fluted Barrel will help you the most, and Flared Magwell will help your reloads be a bit faster.
Perk 1 has a lot of solid PvE options, but Incandescent or Heal Clip cannot be beat. It’s rare to see Incandescent in column 3, which allows it to be paired with damage perks, but Heal Clip continues to be a staple utility perk for high end content. As for Perk 2, Onslaught or Burning Ambition are our top picks. Both pair very nicely with whatever you choose for Perk 1, and Burning Ambition plays off Incandescent to enable rapid ignitions!
The Ringing Nail PvP god roll
| PvP Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Arrowhead Brake |
| Magazine | Ricochet Rounds |
| Perk 1 | Zen Moment or Keep Away |
| Perk 2 | Sword Logic |
| Masterwork | Stability |
With a solid base range, there’s not too much need to invest into it, so we’ll be amping our recoil, stability, and handling instead. Arrowhead Break gives us an almost vertical recoil spread, and Ricochet Rounds helps give a boost to stability and a small bump to range.
For Perk 1, go with either Zen Moment or Keep Away. Zen Moment will help you stay on target during a gunfight, but Keep Away can give you an edge in the range department. Perk 2 has really no better option than Sword Logic. A single kill nets you a nice 15% damage buff that lasts almost twice as long as Rampage!
