How to get The Militia’s Birthright in 2022
The Militia’s Birthright returned to us on Season 18 as a Nightfall-exclusive weapon. This means it can only drop from Nightfall completions and only during the weeks it’s on rotation.
Nightfall Weapon rotation for 2022
There are 14 Nightfall-specific weapons in total, and since the release of Season of Plunder (S18), only 6 out of the 14 total weapons are currently on rotation, with only one dropping each week. This means you can only farm The Militia’s Birthright once every six weeks!

How good is The Militia’s Birthright today
Being a grenade launcher, The Militia’s Birthright has a specific role to fill, which is either mass ad control or high burst damage. Unfortunately, the Militia’s Birthright cannot outclass any of its main competitors in both of those areas.
In terms of burst damage, options like Ignition Code and Salvager’s Salvo beat it, and when it comes to ad control, Forbearance is leagues above any other grenade launcher. Simply put, The Militia’s Birthright is definitely usable, however, it’s not the optimal pick if you want to run a special ammo grenade launcher. For those reasons, we consider this a B-Tier weapon:
- B Tier – Average: A decent choice that can be lethal in the hands of a skilled player.

Best Militia’s Birthright Rolls for PvE and PvP
Once you’ve identified the right week to farm, you’ll want to farm Nightfalls until you’ve found a good roll. Among the several strong possible combinations out there, these are our favorites, the combinations we consider the god rolls.

The Militia’s Birthright, Destiny 2
Militia’s Birthright PvE god roll
For PvE, there are a number of routes you can go down, but you’ll want high Velocity and high Handling nonetheless.
- Barrel: Quick Launch or Volatile Launch
- Magazine: Blinding Grenades or Spike Grenades
- Perk 1: Ambitious Assassin or Slideways
- Perk 2: Auto-Loading holster or Frenzy
For your magazine, Blinding Grenades or Spike Grenades both work well. If you’re looking for ad control, go for Blinding Grenades and if you’re looking to deal more damage, go for Spike Grenades. For your perks, Ambitious Assassin or Slideways will be the best for Slot 1, and Auto-Loading holster or Frenzy are good for Slot 2.
Militia’s Birthright PvP god roll
In terms of PvP rolls, you’re going to want high Velocity and high Handling too. Quick Launch or Smart Drift Control will be the best picks here. In terms of your magazine, you have several options. Spike grenades provide that instant 1-hit kill value, Blinding Grenades allow you to easily clean up enemies while they’re blind, and Proximity Grenades can make for easy setup kills with your other weapon. For your perks, Quickdraw or Slideways will be the best picks for Slot 1, and Auto-Loading Holster will be the play for Slot 2.

Militia’s Birthright Adept
If you manage to complete a Nightfall on Grandmaster difficulty, you’ll receive an Adept version of The Militia’s Birthright. On top of serving as bragging rights, Adept variants have more perks per column, give even more stats when Masterworked, and can accept unique Adept mods.
Be aware that Grandmaster Nightfalls are only available during the second half of the season.
