Destiny 2 Ignition Code: God Rolls & How to get it

by | Oct 11, 2024

Episode: Revenant is here, and with it comes weapons both new and old.

Today, we’ll be covering one from the latter of the two categories, an addition that’s familiar to any Destiny 2 player who’s been around for a while: Ignition Code.

Chapters

How good is Ignition Code

While Ignition Code had a pretty solid fanbase back in Season of the Splicer, it’s not nearly as popular today.

Especially with the introduction of new types of special weapons (double-fire grenade launchers, wave frame grenade launchers, and rocket sidearms, to name a few), standard breach-loaded grenade launchers have mostly fallen out of the meta.

That said, Ignition Code does have some redeeming qualities; namely, a good chunk of meta perks for both PvE and PvP. While these won’t push Ignition Code to S-Tier by themselves, they do make the weapon an alright pick if you’re not a fan of more meta options. Ignition Code is B-Tier in PvE and A-Tier in PvP.

  • Origin Trait: Splicer Surge

Ignition Code PvE god rolls

PvE Roll: All-Around
Barrel Quick Launch
Magazine Spike Grenades or Blinding Grenades
Perk 1 Slideshot (also good: Lead from Gold)
Perk 2 Frenzy
Masterwork Velocity or Handling

In the current meta, Ignition Code simply isn’t meant for boss damage. So, instead, we’ll try and shape it into more of an ad clear role with our selected perks.

Begin by seeking out Quick Launch and either a velocity or handling masterwork for general stat bumps. Then, for your magazine, it’s a toss-up between Spike Grenades and Blinding Grenades—the former is best for general gameplay, while the latter provides great utility.

Slideshot is Ignition Code’s claim to fame for perk one, allowing you to spray enemies with grenades continuously. For the final column, Frenzy is far and away the best choice, even though you likely won’t feel it much in general gameplay.

Ignition Code PvP god rolls

PvP Roll: All-Around
Barrel Quick Launch
Magazine High-Velocity Rounds
Perk 1 Steady Hands
Perk 2 Harmony
Masterwork Velocity

While Ignition Code also isn’t a meta choice in The Crucible, it has a neat little gimmick that we’ll play into for more casual settings.

A higher velocity stat generally makes grenade launchers way easier to use in The Crucible, so start with Quick Launch, High-Velocity Rounds, and a velocity masterwork. Moving to the main perks, we’re fans of Steady Hands in the first column. While it’s not outstanding, there aren’t many better options.

As for the final column, Harmony is easily the best pick. When active, it allows you to one-shot Guardians with the weapon, making for a fun loop to play around.

How to get Ignition Code

Ignition Code is one of the few returning weapons from Season of the Splicer. Released with Episode 2: Revenant, you can acquire this weapon by:

  • Completing Onslaught: Salvation
  • Utilizing tonics available at the H.E.L.M
  • Increasing your Seasonal reputation

Much like previous seasons/episodes, there are vendor upgrades that increase your chances of a roll with double perks, as well as the ability to attune to a specific one. There are also Enriching Tonics that can give you specific rewards for defeating combatants. As of now, there is only one that can drop seasonal gear. We cover all Splicer Weapons here.
