How to get The Immortal in Season 20

The Immortal is one of many Trials of Osiris weapons, obtained exclusively from playing Trials on the weekends. Once you find your first roll, you are able to focus it using extra Trials engrams. To unlock it, you can get lucky with a random drop, or reach rank 10 with Saint-14.

Occasionally, an Adept version of The Immortal will be available (such as this week!). To get the Adept version of The Immortal, you’ll have to go flawless or get 7 wins on your Trials card and then trade the card in at Saint-14.

How good is The Immortal in today’s Meta?

SMGs are in a great place for both PvE and PvP, with Aggressive Frames being the top contenders for PvP.

Being one of the few Strand weapons currently available increases the value of The Immortal greatly for use in PvE activities. Strand weapons can roll with new unique perks that pair well with the new subclasses. The Immortal can get the new Hatchling perk, which synergies well with all three strand subclasses, but works best with the Broodweaver subclass. The Immortal can also roll with several other strong PvE perks including Demolitionist, Focused Fury, and Target Lock.

The Immortal is arguably the best legendary SMG in the game for PvP. The combination of the frame and stacked perks make The Immortal a must-have for PvP players. Perks like Rangefinder and Encore in the third column pair perfectly with Target Lock and Kill Clip in the fourth column. Being a strand weapon opens up different pairings for an energy secondary weapon such as the Beloved sniper or Matador 64 shotgun as the current best SMGs, Tarrabah and IKELOS_SMG_V1.0.3, are both energy weapons. The Immortal is definitely an S Tier (Best) weapon.

Best The Immortal Rolls for PvE and PvP

Once you have played enough trials or gotten lucky at the Lighthouse, you will have acquired several rolls of The Immortal. Here are our recommendations for the god rolls for PvE and PvP:

The Immortal Roll

The Immortal God roll, Destiny 2

The Immortal PvP god roll

  • Barrel: Full Bore
  • Magazine: Ricochet Rounds
  • Perk 1: Rangefinder or Encore
  • Perk 2: Target Lock or Kill Clip
  • Masterwork: Range

The Immortal has great base stats, hence focusing on buffing the range is the best. Full Bore, Hammer-Forged Rifling, or Small Bore are the best barrel choices due to the increase in range that they provide. Ricochet Rounds increase both the range and stability making them the best options for the magazine.

Column 3 has several great perks for PvP. Rangefinder is the best, closely followed by Encore and Keep Away. All 3 perks grant bonus to range which is key on an SMG. The best perk in the final column is Target Lock. This perk decreases the TTK by ramping up the damage the longer you are hitting a target. This gives The Immortal an edge over its SMG competitors in a duel. Kill clip is another great option, helping make chaining kills easy.

The Immortal PvE god roll

  • Barrel: Hammer-Forge Rounds
  • Magazine: Flared Magwell
  • Perk 1: Threat Detector or Surplus
  • Perk 2: Demolitionist or Hatchling
  • Masterwork: Range or Reload

The best The Immortal roll for PvE is a balance between range and reload speed. Hamer-Forged Rifling or Smallbore are the best barrel choices. They both give a bump to the range stat without any negatives making them ideal choices. The magazine choice is where reload speed can be focused. Flared Magwell is the best choice, but magazines that buff mag size such as Appended Mag are also great.

The best perks in column 3 are Threat Detector, Surplus, and Perpetual Motion. They all passively grant bonuses to your weapon stats. The two stand-out perks in column 4 are Demolitionist and Hatchling. Demolitionist is the jack-of-all-trades perk that can help most PvE builds in the game. Hatchling is a fantastic PvE perk for a strand build and can be more desirable than Demolitionist for those specific builds.

The Immortal: Is it worth farming?

The Immortal is a must-have for PvP and an incredibly strong option for PvE activities. The combination of great perks, great stats and a meta frame/weapon type make The Immortal worth farming. RNG can make it difficult to obtain the perfect god roll, but The Immortal has so many great rolls making it less painful to farm for. It is strongly recommended to dedicate as much time as possible to obtaining a roll if you enjoy playing PvP and/or want a good strand primary for low to mid-game PvE activities.
