How good is DECATUR 02

Support Auto Rifles, despite their limited range, are a boon in 3 or 6-man activities thanks to their healing and unique subclass buff based on the weapon’s damage type.

With Decatur 02 being Stasis, this means it gets access to Frost Armor, one of the strongest damage reduction sources in the game, now buffed to not lose all stacks at once! For those rocking support, you won’t want to miss Decatur 02. Decatur 02 is A-Tier for PvE and D-tier for PvP.

The DECATUR 02 Stasis Auto Rifle can roll with the following perks:

• Perk 1: Physic, Demolitionist, Attrition Orbs, Crystalline Corpsebloom, Enlightened Action, Lead from Light, Vorpal Weapon.
• Perk 2: Redirection, Circle of Life, Reciprocity, Rimestealer, Master of Arms, Meganeura, Rampage.
• Origin Trait: Carrion Munitions.

With solid base stats, there’s no need to heavily invest into one area, so Fluted Barrel and Tactical Mag will serve as good QoL perks to make the gun feel smoother.

Perk 1 and 2 really depend on how often you’ll be healing with the weapon. If you’ll be going full support mode, Physic and Circle of Life are a good pairing as you’ll gain Frost Armor and a 25% damage bonus for healing allies, or you can throw on Reciprocity to give yourself some health. If there’s less need to heal, Crystalline Corpsebloom and Rimestealer allow you to still stack up Frost Armor while also providing ad-clear. Attrition Orbs is a good alternative to Physic if you don’t care too much about the extra DR.

With a weak archetype for PvP and no redeeming perks, this weapon is not worth chasing to take into the Crucible.

How to get DECATUR 02

The DECATUR 02 can drop from participating in Distortions, with higher-tiered weapons awarded from public events. Distortions are enhanced Patrol zones in which enemies become distorted, making them tougher, more aggressive, and more dangerous. As explained by Bungie, Distortions offer unique rewards:

We’re making Distortions uniquely rewarding by providing a new weapon set players can earn in these new events and, to balance the increased challenge of Distorted enemies, you’ll see higher gear tiers awarded from playing public events.
