A solid entry for High-Impact Frames and easily the best of the selection of Void Machine Guns. New perks combine effectively with the old for great build synergy and switching between shredding mobs or chunks of damage

How good is Bane of Sorrow
Bane of Sorrow is an exceptional High-Impact Frame and, paired with the Void element, carries great perks and combinations to suit some of the best builds in Destiny 2. The best of this weapon will be seen in PvE, and it can do a steady job in PvP, should you wish to take it into the Crucible, but it is not recommended with its perk options when compared to other Machine Guns for the task.
Two new perks in Dimensional Shift and Collective Demolition bring interesting new angles when it comes to focusing on the Void element of a build, working effectively with Void Breaches, or pure elemental pick-ups. Pairing these with a damage perk such as Killing Tally can create a formidable Machine Gun for clearing out high volumes of mobs. Bane of Sorrow is A-Tier for PvE and C-Tier for PvP.

Bane of Sorrow PvE god roll
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
| Magazine | Extended Mag |
| Perk 1 | Destabilizing Rounds (also good: Dimensional Shift) |
| Perk 2 | Meganeura (also good: Killing Tally, Mega Kill Clip) |
| Masterwork | Reload Speed |
Arguably the best Void High-Impact Machine Gun, and a big recommendation of ours to chase this god roll
Fluted Barrel, for its Handling and Stability boost, provides a strong base, keeping this weapon snappy and keeping shots on target during long trigger pulls. Extended Mag adds another 13 rounds to the magazine to keep you in the fight for longer and ensure a constant stream of damage
The main perks combine Destabilizing Rounds and Meganeura to bring the Void explosions to the table. Excellent for Void-focused builds and excellent for taking down overwhelming numbers of enemy waves. Feeding Volatile Rounds into the magazine will always be an effective move
If you want to focus more on damage, switch Extended Mag to Flared Magwell as Reload Speed is very low, and either Killing Tally or the new Mega Kill Clip are solid choices for bringing the damage when set up
Bane of Sorrow PvP god roll
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Arrowhead Brake |
| Magazine | Ricochet Rounds |
| Perk 1 | Demoralize |
| Perk 2 | Precision Instrument |
| Masterwork | Range |
Bane of Sorrow won’t be terrorizing your team in the Crucible any time soon. Better options when it comes to Machine Guns and even just the Heavy slot mean this won’t have room to squeeze in. You can still create something hard-hitting, should you be a fan of the weapon.
Arrowhead Brake and Ricochet Rounds are most effective for their all-around boosts to Handling, Recoil, Stability, and Range. All of these bonuses will help keep Bane of Sorrow feeling effective at distance by keeping shots more controlled, so they stay on target while firing.
Demoralize has the chance to weaken surrounding enemies of a kill; this is a debuff that can be taken advantage of by your teammates, also, so you can make quick work of a bunched-up group. Killing Tally then increases the damage perk kill, making this combination deadly for follow-up shots on weakened targets.
