Destiny 2’s 2025 Dawning event is upon us and will feature themed gear, an Event Home, and a brand-new gamemode. Here’s everything you need to know about The Dawning, including its schedule, activities, and rewards.
When is The Dawning 2025 starting?
The Dawning 2025 starts December 16, 2025, and will be available for free to all players. The event is three weeks long and occurs once per year.
- The Dawning starts on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at reset
- The Dawning ends on Tuesday, January 6, 2025, at reset

The Dawning Rewards in 2025
The Dawning is entering the Event Home for the first time, much like we did for Festival of the Lost and Solstice, and it will feature tons of rewards, such as a shader, ship, emblem, ghost shell, weapons, and more. We cover all Dawning weapons and Dawning Armor here. The Renegades DLC introduces two new weapons (and a reissued one):

And best of all, Dawning Weapons will drop with a higher Tier than your current level. This is how you can farm them:
- Earn Dawning Engrams from Portal activities
- Trade in Dawning Spirit with Eva in the Tower.
- Bake cookies (probably). We cover all Dawning recipes here.
- Get a guaranteed holofoil version from the Event Rank Track.
- Buy them at the Event Shop.

Armor sets
The most sought-after Dawning rewards are usually the armor sets. Last year, the event featured the Stasis Drake armor sets for all three classes. The new set will be revealed on December 16. We cover this year’s Dawning armor sets here.
Items
Last but not least, the Dawning also featured Exotic items, including a Ghost, a ship, and a sparrow. Unfortunately, these will most likely be available on the Eververse for Silver only, but we’ll update this section if we get a pleasant surprise on this front…

What is The Dawning
The Dawning is a yearly event that is available to all players for free. Taking place in December, it features a strong Christmas/Winter theme. More importantly, The Dawning boasts unique mechanics that revolve around baking cookies (we cover all the Dawning recipes and ingredients here):
Eva Levante makes her return with a cookie cooking quest! Learn how to gather questionably edible ingredients (Vex Milk?), acquire Essence of Dawning, and use her cookie oven to bake tantalizing treats for the stalwart heroes you know and love in the Tower and beyond. Exchange baked goods across the solar system for special The Dawning-themed rewards!
This year, The Dawning also features a themed PvP Game Mode:
This year we have a new Crucible Ops activity, Dawning: Snowball Fight, where you can live out your fantasy of the most overpowered snowball fight of all time. No weapons, no abilities, just soft powder and after a while a snowball Super to one-shot your cool-headed rivals.

How to enter The Dawning
To enter the Dawning event, you must visit Eva Levante at the Tower once the event becomes available. She will provide you with the Winter Night quest and any other item you may require. If you’re new, don’t worry. Dawning is a straightforward event, and Eva’s quest does a good job of explaining the different mechanics. It’s all about collecting ingredients and baking cookies! The Dawning is a free yearly event that is open to all players.
When does The Dawning end?
The Dawning is a three-week event. It will end on January 6, 2026, and won’t return until December 2026.
