When is the next World Boss event?
Unlike other games that make no effort to alert you when a global event occurs (looking at you, Destiny 2), Diablo 4 will very prominently alert you about an incoming World Boss. As part of the changes made to World Bosses with Season 2, the in-game broadcasts will occur one hour in advance versus the 30 minutes previously.
This should give you enough time to finish what you’re doing and head over there. Also, players will now receive a direct notification 15 minutes before a World Boss appears.
🛑 Be aware that you need to complete the main campaign in order to receive these notifications in-game. If you haven’t yet, you can still participate, even if you can’t see the in-game notification.
World Bosses & Locations
There are three World Bosses in Diablo 4: Ashava, Wandering Death, and Avarice. These can appear in any of the following locations across Sanctuary:
- Saraan Caldera, Dry Steppes
- The Crucible, Fractured Peaks
- Caen Adar, Scosglen
- Fields of Desecration, Hawezar
- Seared Basin, Khejistan
World Bosses Rewards
Since the release Update 1.2.0, World Bosses got stronger than ever. Word Bosses’ health and damage have been increased, and they now become immune 2 seconds after beginning their escape.
But to match the increased difficulty, the quality of their rewards has been significantly increased. If you manage to beat a World Boss, you can expect to earn several items per Boss, including Rare and Legendary gear, as well as Scattered Prisms, which is a unique and sought-after crafting material. Also, remember that starting Season 2, World Bosses will also reward resources to summon an Endgame Boss, in this case, to summon Lord Zir.
Weekly Caches
World Bosses drop a bonus Weekly Cache the first time you defeat them per week. That means one Weekly Cache per boss for a total of 3 Weekly Caches per week. By the way, the week resets on Thursdays at 10:00 am PDT.
This means you should aim to defeat all three bosses at least once per week to claim a maximum of three Weekly Caches. These caches are filled with powerful gear, including Legendary items, and are well worth the extra effort.
World Boss rotation
World Bosses follow a 3-2-3-2 pattern, with the same Boss spawning 3 times in a row, then another one 2 times in a row, another one 3 times in a row, etc. For example, this is how a rotation might look like on any given week:
- Ashava spawns 3 times in a row
- Wandering Death spawns 2 in a row
- Avarice spawns 3 times in a row
- Ashava spawns 2 times in a row
- Wandering Death spawns 3 in a row
- Avarice spawns 2 times in a row
- Ashava spawns 3 times in a row
Before you go…
As soon as you finish the campaign, Diablo 4 will slowly introduce you to the several endgame activities and systems it has to offer.
