Season of the Blood (S2) overhauled the entire endgame system with the introduction of 5 new endgame bosses, each with a specific loot table allowing you to finally be able to target farm some of the strongest items in the game.
This guide covers Lord Zir’s loot table and how to summon it.
How to Summon Lord Zir: Exquisite Blood
Available in World Tier 4, Lord Zir requires players to defeat a World Boss in World Tier 4 or complete a Legion Event. From these activities, you’ll acquire Exquisite Blood. Once you have enough, you’ll be able to summon it. Lord Zir was also Season 2’s main storyline bad guy, but this Endgame Boss is a much harder version of the Dark Master.

On top of dropping specific Uniques (giving us an opportunity to truly target farm them), Lord Zir can also drop the following items:
- Ancestral items
- The Diadem of the Ancient Helm
Lord Zir Location: The Darkened Way
Once you’ve gathered all the required materials, you can take them to the Darkened Way, located in the Gale Valley, Fractured Peaks. After clearing a couple of short corridors, you’ll arrive at the summoning Altar where you can deposit the required items. There are no requirements to enter, but you’ll need the items to summon Lord Zir.
Lord Zir Level and Damage Type
Lord Zir is level 80. And as a World Tier 4 Boss, you should definitely expect a challenging fight if your character is below level 80.
Also, all Endgame Bosses have an elemental theme to encourage players to farm the appropriate elemental resist gear. Lord Zir deals Shadow damage, which means you should increase your Shadow resistance as much as possible. You can always use a Potent Elixir of Shadow resistance if you can’t reach the 70% Shadow resistance cap through your gear.
How Endgame Bosses Work
Endgame Bosses are meant to add more goals, things to do, and ways to make our characters more powerful. These Bosses are Blizzard’s response to the harsh criticism that D4 lacks Endgame content. But how do they work?
Endgame Bosses are available in World Tier 3 and World Tier 4. Each Boss has specific requirements to be summoned, and each has a pre-defined loot table that includes specific Unique Items and Cosmetics (and Uber Duriel has a low chance to drop Uber Uniques!). This guide covers all you need to know about these bosses.
Before you go…
Don’t forget that The Beast of Ice can also be tackled in World Tier 4. We cover The Beast of Ice’s loot table here.
