Diablo 4 Grigoire Loot Table and Requirements

Season of the Blood (S2) overhauled the entire endgame system with the introduction of 5 new endgame bosses, each with a specific loot table allowing you to finally be able to target farm some of the strongest items in the game.

How to Summon Grigoire: Living Steel

Available in World Tier 3 and 4, Grigoire requires players to gather enough Living Steel from the Tortured Offering Chests in Helltides.

For best results, head over to a Helltide as soon as possible to have enough time to farm as many Aberrant Cinders as humanly possible. The Cinders you can get, the more chests you can open.

Where to find Grigoire: Hall of the Penitent

Once you’ve gathered all the required materials, you can take them to the Hall of the Penitent, located in the Dindai Flats on the Dry Steppes. After clearing a couple of short corridors, you’ll arrive at the Light-Touched Altar, where you can deposit the required items.

As soon as you enter World Tier 3, the Hall of Penitent will appear on your map and mini-map. There are no requirements to enter, but you’ll need the necessary items to summon Grigoire.

How to defeat Grigoire

All Endgame Bosses have an elemental theme to encourage players to farm the appropriate elemental resist gear. Varshan deals Lightning damage, meaning you should increase your Lightning resistance as much as possible. If you can’t reach the 70% Lightning resistance cap through your gear, you can always use a Lightning resistance potion.

To be fair, Grigoire is not particularly difficult. I tackled Grigoire with a level 65 Sorcerer (granted, a Ball Lightning Sorcerer) and destroyed him without having an optimized build or paying attention to my Lightning resistance. We’ll see if the fight is as “easy” in World Tier 4.

How Endgame Bosses Work

Endgame Bosses are meant to add more goals, things to do, and ways to make our characters more powerful. These Bosses are Blizzard’s response to the harsh criticism that D4 lacks Endgame content. But how will they work?

Endgame Bosses will be available in World Tier 3 and World Tier 4. Each Boss will have specific requirements to summon it, and each will have a pre-defined loot table that will include specific Unique Items and Cosmetics (and Uber Duriel will even have a low chance to drop Uber Uniques!).
