Diablo 4 Class Tier List: Season 3

by | Feb 14, 2024

After the changes introduced with Season of the Construct, you’re probably wondering what Diablo 4 Class is the best right now. You want a class that is fun and powerful but also one that is effective when leveling up. And if you’re a more dedicated player, you want a class that can hold on its own in the endgame.

This guide considers all those aspects to give you the best Diablo 4 Classes for Season 3.

Diablo 4 Best Class in Season 3

Season of the Construct and Patch 1.3.0 features several balance updates, buffs, nerfs, gearchanges, and new items to boost underperforming Skills. Each Class is still being extensively tested by the community, but rest assured; we will update this D4 Tier list if anything major, such as an unexpected top-tier build, is discovered. Without further ado, this is our updated Diablo 4 Tier list as of Season of the Construct:

These are the different Tier levels used for our list:

  • S Tier – Best: Highest ranking Classes right now.
  • A Tier – Strong: Very strong Classes, but not on the same level as S Tier choices.
  • B Tier – Average: Decent Classes that can be lethal in the hands of a skilled player.
  • C Tier – Weak: The somewhat mediocre Classes.
  • D Tier – Worst: Lagging behind the competition, these don’t have much to offer.

We also have to give credit where credit is due. Raxxanterax did an excellent video with his take on Diablo 4’s Season 3 Tier list. He’s an extremely knowledgeable D4 player, and I agree with most of his points. This guide was inspired by his video and echoes many of his takes.

Diablo 4 Season 3 Tier List: Ranked from Worst to Best

This time around, Classes stand closer together in terms of potency and survivability. The difference in strength between the “worst” and “best” classes has never been smaller. The best build from Season 2 (Ball Lightning Sorcerer) may be gone, but most other Classes saw few nerfs.

Rogue Class Diablo 45. Rogues: B Tier (Average)

The main reason why Rogue ranks lower this season is because Blizzard finally nerfed its strongest build: Twisting Blades. Rogues can still excel if you can master one of the massively buffed ranged builds, but that is no easy task.

Rogues used to have it all. They had high survivability, excellent mobility, and top-tier DPS. This was especially true for its top-tier Twisting Blades build. But now that Twisting Blades has been nerfed, we’re left with harder-to-use Ranged builds, which are not as strong and less efficient for leveling. We also saw nerfs to the Close Quarters Combat passive and Poison-based builds. If you still decide to go with Rogue this season, our Rogue Leveling Build has you covered.

Druid Class Diablo 44. Druids: B Tier (Average)

Druid remains one of the best endgame classes in Diablo 4, but we still rank it last because its leveling experience is nonetheless the worst of the bunch.

Druid is a polarizing class. It’s not great for casual players, as they’ll need to spend a lot of time farming very specific Aspects and Uniques to put together the best builds. Plus, Druids are simply the slowest class for Leveling from 1 to 100.

However, if you’re prepared to go through the slog that is leveling a Druid, it will reward you substantially for your efforts. In the end game, Druids are one of the best classes out there due to their insane survivability, the best in the game, and top-tier damage.

Sorcerer Class Diablo 43. Sorcerers: B Tier (Average)

Sorcerers may have lost their insanely OP Ball Lightning build, but they remain incredibly strong for leveling and offer insane mobility overall. The top Sorcerer leveling builds are still top tier and can breeze to level 50 with ease. Sorcerers can still hold their own in the endgame, even though they can’t match the meta classes.

Sorcerer has always felt like a glass cannon, especially after the nerfs from Season 1. Subsequent patches have progressively remedied that issue. And while the Ball Lightning build carried the Sorcerer to the top of the Meta in Season 2, no crazy build has done the same this Season.

Necromancer Class Diablo 43. Necromancers: A Tier (Strong)

Necromancer benefited the most from Season 2’s changes, and all those changes carry over to Season 3. Plus, its Blood Surge build is incredibly strong and can easily clear entire rooms.

The Necromancer’s biggest weakness remains its lack of mobility, but there are more than enough top-tier Necromancer leveling builds to carry you to level 50. Minion Builds are still lacking, and it would be nice if Blizzard found a way to properly buff them and allow a viable Minion build for Necromancers… Maybe in Season 4?

Barbarian Class Diablo 41. Barbarians: S Tier (Best)

Barbarian went from being the weakest class of Season 2 to arguably the most powerful class right now.

How is this possible? Simple. The Barbarian’s HOTA build was one of the strongest ones last season, but unlike the Sorcerer’s Ball Lightning, it wasn’t nerfed. This means HOTA will probably be the strongest endgame build this season, and other buffs have also improved their speed and leveling experience.

Best Diablo 4 Class for End Game

As of the release of Season of the Construct, the best Diablo 4 Classes for the Endgame are Barbarians and Druid.

This tier list is heavily weighted by how Classes perform in the endgame which starts after conquering the Fallen Temple Capstone Dungeon and reaching World Tier 4 (Torment) at level 70. It is at this point that most players will focus on min-maxing their builds, farming the best Ancestral items possible, and finding the required Unique items to perfect their build (which may or may not include a new Unique or an Uber Unique item). The endgame culminates with Uber Duriel, the most challenging boss in D4 this season.

Perfecting your build and chasing the exact Legendary Aspects, Affixes, and Uniques are Diablo’s core experience. This is why this Tier list, and most other tier lists online, focus on the endgame side of D4. However, a huge part of the community never truly experiences that side of the game, which is why the “Casual-Play” part of our Tier list is important too.

Best Class in Diablo 4 for Leveling

As of the release of Season of the Construct, the best Diablo 4 Classes for Casuals are Sorcerer and Necromancer.

Before you laugh and skip this section thinking there’s no way you’re a Casual, let’s make one thing clear: Most players in Diablo 4 are “casuals.” But being a Casual in Diablo 4 is not a bad thing. This is an extremely grindy game that requires hours of play per day to reach level 100 with a fully decked character. That is simply hard to achieve for most players with demanding jobs and/or a family.

Casuals are those players that can play between 5 to 10 hours per week. They enjoy the leveling process, aim for World Tier 4, and want to complete the Season Pass as their ultimate goal before a Season ends.
