Ashava, the Pestilent, is an enormous demon and one of three World Bosses in Diablo 4. Ashava possesses two massive forearm blades that can cut through almost anything and won’t stop until Sanctuary is drowned in poisonous bile. Taking down this demon is not for the faint of hearts, but will reward handsomely those who try.
In this guide, we cover everything there is to know about Ashava, including it’s spawn times, rewards and possible locations.
World Bosses in Diablo 4
Diablo 4’s World Bosses are events that occur simultaneously worldwide, approximately every six hours. With only four appearances per day, World Bosses are extremely sought-after challenges that are hard but offer rewards well worth the effort.

Ashava Rewards: Horse Armor and Trophies
World Bosses are tough. They have a minimum level of 50 at World Tier 2 (55 at Tier 3 and 60 at Tier 4) and only give you 15 minutes before they disappear. This means you’ll need to be of a high enough level and have a big enough group at your side to succeed.World Bosses are not an easy challenge for the average player and will one-shot you if you’re not careful.
Each World Boss has a small chance of dropping unique horse armor and trophies as well as an increased chance of dropping Scattered Prisms, which are used to add sockets to gear for gems to be inserted.
Just like Avarice, Ashava can also drop a unique Horse armor. In this case, the Barding Horse armor:
World Bosses can also randomly drop Legendary gear, Gold, Gems, and a rare chance at Uniques.
Ashava drops a bonus Weekly Cache the first time you defeat it each week. These caches are filled with powerful gear, including Legendary items, and are well worth the extra effort. By the way, the week resets on Thursdays at 10:00 am PDT.
Ashava The Pestilent Location
Ashava can appear in any of the following locations across Sanctuary:
- Saraan Caldera, Dry Steppes
- The Crucible, Fractured Peaks
- Caen Adar, Scosglen
- Fields of Desecration, Hawezar
- Seared Basin, Khejistan
Diablo 4 Ashava Strategy
When fighting Ashava, you have to be alert for the consistent poison damage she inflicts so make sure to pack plenty of poison resistance potions. The first attacks that happen are 2 sweeping attacks which make up a full circle around Ashava.
This can be a nuisance for ranged players so make sure you stay on your toes. However, if you’re a close-range player, sit directly underneath her to avoid the poison and sweeping attack. Her second attack-type is a lunge attack where she pulls her blades behind her.
If you are sat underneath her during this attack it can leave you with next to no health. Ashava can also leap which can reposition herself for spewing her poisonous bile around her which makes it harder to get in close without taking damage.
Other attacks range from a ground slam so be careful of those Area of Effect rings that appear and a bite in front of her towards the players.
A common strategy is to hit Ashava with as much stun damage to fill the stun bar as fast as possible because her blades can break which makes the whole encounter so much easier. However, in my personal experiences so far Ashava has one of the higher stun resistances compared to the other world bosses so be warned of that.
