How good is The Hothead

Hothead is a top-tier Rocket Launcher and a must-have chase following the Monument of Triumph update. Hothead sets with the best Rocket Launchers in Destiny 2 when it comes to damage output, so they should be high on the list of weapons to chase down. 

Hothead carries every desirable PvE perk when it comes to Rocket Launchers and will fit seamlessly into any damage rotation. Perks such as Aggregate Charge and Bait and Switch can be switched to best suit the challenge ahead, and Envious Assassin is perfect for the damage rotation to ensure constant pressure is put onto the meatiest of opponents. 

PvP is not what this Rocket Launcher was made for, but its stats can be pushed to their limit with relative ease, meaning it can get the job done in the arena should Hothead be called upon. Hothead is S-Tier for PvE and C-Tier for PvP.

This god roll is about Velocity and hard-hitting power. To get there, we start with Quick Launch for an immediate +10 to Velocity and Impact Casing, which adds an extra 10% to our damage when shots hit directly to the target.

Envious Assassin allows us to continue consistent damage without the break for reloading. Hitting your target with your other 2 equipped weapons will reload Hothead immediately from reserves. This allows us to keep enemies under pressure and deal a high amount of damage throughout. Aggregate Charge finishes off as if you and your team can apply 3 separate debuffs to your target. Hothead will activate a 33% damage buff, which is enough to take huge chunks of health from even the tankiest foes.

Bait and Switch is an excellent alternative, as it requires less setup to hit its 30% damage buff, which comes solely from rotating the damage cycle.

Hothead can hit the heights of maximum Velocity with this god roll, which ensures opponents will have a tough time avoiding its volleys. To get there, stack Quick Launch and High-Velocity Rounds for an immediate +20 to Velocity straight out of the box.

Impulse Amplifier adds a further 10% to Velocity, so if we add in the Velocity Masterwork for another +10, it will easily get over the maximum for the stat. The final perk slot is not really geared towards PvP, but Explosive Light can add a powerful blast enough to take Guardians out of their super, should they be unlucky enough to rush you if this damage buff is loaded up. Hothead does have serviceable Blast Radius, so it will be effective in locking down zones across the Crucible.

How to get The Hothead

The Hothead Rocket Launcher is a potential drop from Distorted Engrams found from completing Distortion events, focusable at Commander Zavala for Engrams and Glimmer once unlocked, or can be farmed from Pinnacle OPs activities when Hothead is the featured weapon for that daily rotation.
