A weapon that has been virtually useless for years now, The Queenbreaker is about to get its fifteen seconds of glory. With Episode: Heresy, The Queenbreaker received significant Buffs and a capable Catalyst geared towards PvE.
Plus, with Particle Deconstruction as part of the Seasonal Artifact, The Queenbreaker may finally be able to shine… Today, we cover both this Linear Fusion Rifle and its brand-new Catalyst.

How to get The Queenbreaker Catalyst
The Queenbreaker Catalyst can drop at the end of any core ritual activity, such as Crucible, Gambit, or Vanguard Ops (another tactic is to spam Private Crucible matches…). Since Update 7.3.5, Comp matches have an increased Exotic Catalyst drop rate:
Competitive matches will also have an increased chance to drop Exotic weapon catalysts on victories.
The catalyst adds the following stats and perks: Rewind Rounds.

Upon acquiring the Catalyst, you’ll need to get 400 kills with The Queenbreaker to upgrade it. As is usual with objectives like this, the Shuro Chi encounter in the Last Wish raid is the go-to spot for farming.

How to get The Queenbreaker Exotic
The Queenbreaker can be somewhat elusive. The weapon isn’t tied to a specific Exotic quest, and you can’t get it from the Monument to Lost Lights, meaning there isn’t a direct path to the weapon. You’ll have to get lucky and have it drop from one of these random RNG-based sources:
- Random Exotic drops or Activity Completion
- Xur’s rotation or Xur’s Fated Engram
Getting the weapon through Xur can be pretty frustrating, as it may take months, but due to the Fated Engram providing an Exotic you do not have, you will get it if you persist. Therefore, if you don’t own the Exotic weapon or class-specific armor piece that Xur is selling, buy them to improve your odds with the Fated Engram.
How good is The Queenbreaker?
The Queenbreaker features the following exotic perks:
- Wire Rifle: Swap between scopes and alter this weapon’s firing behavior.
- Hip-Fire Grip: Increases accuracy, stability, and precision hit targeting when firing from the hip.
But more importantly, the Exotic received a noticeable buff with update 8.2.0:
- Can now swap between its two scopes using special reload that also alters the weapon’s firing behavior
- Marksman Sights fires a single-shot bolt that chains to nearby targets and blinds them on hit.
- Combat Sights fires a three-round burst that decreases charge time even further on sustained damage.
- While the scopes can be swapped between at any time, selecting the scope node in the inspection screen lets players choose which scope they want equipped by default when spawning in.
- Increased the search range of the chain projectiles from eight meters to ten meters.
Will these buffs and a brand-new catalyst be enough to bring The Queenbreaker to the top of the Meta? Only time will tell, but I bet Particle Deconstruction will help it greatly in PvE…
