Gunnora’s Axe unfortunately feels like it’s been left behind, but only because other Slug Shotguns are considered the best weapons in the game for the archetype. Focusing on damage and maximizing stats can salvage a serviceable weapon for PvE and PvP.

How good is Gunnora’s Axe
Gunnora’s Axe falls into a strange spot where Solar weaponry is much more associated with clearing the rank and file enemies in PvE. Its slug-firing nature just means it falls behind bullet-spraying weapons by a fair margin in this regard. However, for PvE, it has been given perks to hit hard and ramp up its power to at least compete when taking down powerful foes. The downside, then, is that it takes up a slot for one of the aforementioned room-clearing weapons.
The Crucible is a different story, as Gunnora’s Axe can only be described as a ‘Legendary Chaprone’. This god roll maximizes several stats to maximum and will reward an accurate hand with bucketloads of takedowns. The issue being that if you miss a shot, you’ll be easily punished. Gunnora’s Axe is B-Tier for PvE and B-Tier for PvP.

- Perk 2: Opening Shot, Iron Reach, Incandescent, Cascade Point, Precision Instrument, Kill Clip, Closing Time.

Gunnora’s Axe PvE god roll
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Smallbore |
| Magazine | Appended Mag |
| Perk 1 | Threat Detector (also good: Heal Clip) |
| Perk 2 | Precision Instrument (also good: Cascade Point, Incandescent) |
| Masterwork | Stability |
| Origin Trait | Suros Energy |
There is no hiding that when it comes to PvE, Slug Shotguns have already found their king in Heritage. That said, we can still build Gunnora’s Axe to focus on high stats and hitting hard.
Pick this up with Smallbore for bumps to Range and Stability. We do this here because Threat Detector comes up as the first main perk, maximizing the essential stats so we can focus the Barrel elsewhere. Add on Appended Mag for extra rounds in the Magazine, ensuring extra bursts of damage.
Threat Detector, when at 2 stacks, meaning you are surrounded by 2 or more enemies, ensures Stability, Handling, and Reload Speed all reach maximum when in the thick of battle. Finish with Precision Instrument; 6 direct hits provide a damage buff of 30% until you need to reload. Getting this rolling is the key to getting the best out of this god roll.
Gunnora’s Axe PvP god roll
| PvP Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Arrowhead Brake |
| Magazine | Ricochet Rounds |
| Perk 1 | Lonewolf (also good: Slideshot, Moving Target) |
| Perk 2 | Opening Shot (also good: Closing Time, Iron Reach) |
| Masterwork | Handling |
| Origin Trait | Skulking Wolf |
Start with Arrowhead Brake to help make the Recoil much more controlled and vertical. Slug Shotguns need to be as accurate as possible, which immediately helps keep the weapon in line after every shot. Ricochet Rounds then adds to this by keeping shots and flinch under control with Stability and ensuring accuracy at longer distances with Range.
Lonewolf and Opening Shot combine to maximize Range and add large bonuses to Accuracy, which is essential for ensuring you get the best when using this weapon. Lonewolf works perfectly as a more ‘run and gun’ strategy will ensure the best results. Getting up close likely means your team won’t be around, so Lonewolf will be rolling for most of your engagements.
Moving Target is a decent swap for Lonewolf and provides similar bonuses but with added movement speed while aiming down sights, making you a harder target to hit in battle.
