Destiny 2 Abyssal Edge: God Rolls & How to get it

by | Feb 25, 2025

Abyssal Edge comes with interesting perk combinations and fun ways to build up for big damage moves or slaying from waves of mobs. There’s a bit of everything for PvE players here, and this god roll taps into that slice-and-dice enjoyment swords bring to the game.

Abyssal Edge also has an Adept and masterwork version, opening multiple perk columns.

How good is Abyssal Edge

Abyssal Edge doesn’t challenge the meta regarding the most powerful swords, but it can be a powerful tool with this god roll. Abyssal Edge offers combinations that complement certain build setups, making it a solid choice when adding a Strand weapon to your loadout. It is also only the second Wave Frame Sword we have in the game, so it’s worth going out and grabbing a god roll.

Abyssal Edge Perks & God Rolls

The Abyssal Edge Sword can roll with the following perks:

  • Perk 1: Energy Transfer, Slice, Tireless Blade, Relentless Strikes, Duelist’s Trance, Valiant Charge, Flash Counter.
  • Perk 2:  Hatchling, Elemental Honing, En Garde, Sword Logic, Redirection, Surrounded, Demolitionist.
  • Origin Trait: Willing Vessel.

Abyssal Edge PvE god rolls

PvE Roll: All-Around
Blade Tempered Edge
Guard Swordmasters Guard
Perk 1 Relentless Strikes (also good: Slice)
Perk 2 Elemental Honing (also good: Surrounded)
Masterwork Impact

Swords in PvE are all about uptime and delivering powerful finishing blows. Tempered Edge offers more ammo and damage, so it’s a solid place to start. Throw on Swordmasters Guard, which increases the Charge Rate, allowing for faster access to Heavy attacks, which will get the best out of Abyssal Edge.

For the main perks, the combination of Relentless Strikes and Elemental Honing is too good to pass up. Relentless Strikes grants sword ammo for landing consecutive hits, helping keep Abyssal Edge in the game for longer by rewarding more ammo for its usage.

The wave can also blow away any rank-and-file enemies easily, feeding directly into the Elemental Honing perk with any other elemental damage, with this stacking up to 35% at its peak. Piece this together before hitting the more powerful enemies, and Abyssal Edge becomes a formidable piece of kit across PvE.

Abyssal Edge PvP god rolls

PvP Roll: All-Around
Blade Honed Edge
Guard Balanced Guard
Perk 1 Valiant Charge
Perk 2 Demolitionist (also good: Sword Logic, En Garde)
Masterwork Impact

Abyssal Edge won’t be a go-to choice in PvP as the Wave and Heavy attack combo would be difficult to nail down with how quickly Guardians can navigate the arena. The wave atta,ck for sure, can lock down a long hallway, but there are better options for getting points on the board.

That said, a formidable roll can be pieced together should you be a big fan of the sword. Start with Honed Edge for added Impact, effectively increasing damage, and then Balanced Guard for solid increases to damage blocking, which benefits the main perks.

Valiant Charge is great for closing the gap when facing the enemy head-on, and its added lunge after blocking damage can be a real difference-maker in winning the confrontation. Round off with Demolitionist, who will refund 10% of your grenade energy per kill. A finely poised sword user can slice through plenty of opponents in PvP, so this can be a big difference in getting your grenade back for the next encounter.

How to get Abyssal Edge

As with all Heretical weapons from Episode 3, you can obtain Abyssal Edge as a reward from The Nether upon completion or from random chests in the area. Make sure to use the Wombo Detector Ghost mod to find chests as efficiently as possible. We cover all Heretical weapons here.

Additionally, you can focus the weapon at the Tome of Want for an additional cost by using Scriptures, making it worthwhile to gather materials to get your hands on a good roll of this weapon.
