Destiny 2 Wilderflight: God Rolls & How to get it

by | May 8, 2025

Rite of the Nine has just been released, and with it comes several reprised weapons from the Spire of the Watcher, Prophecy, and Ghosts of the Deep Dungeons. Wilderflight, the void Grenade Launcher, has landed with quite a bang. Here is how to obtain the weapon, the god rolls, and how good it is.

How good is Wilderflight?

Wilderflight is generally a PvE-focused weapon, with plenty of damage and utility-based perks such as Bait and Switch, Withering Gaze, or Destabilizing Rounds. You can go in many directions with Wilderflight, and none will generally be objectively ‘incorrect’. However, it is pretty clear that this weapon’s best niche is boss damage, as it simply does not compete with other add-clear focused grenade launchers such as VS Velocity Baton or Lost Signal.

In PvP, Wilderflight has some options. However, it is held back by the lack of Disruption Break on the weapon, meaning it can’t thrive as much as some alternatives can. Wilderflight is A-Tier for PvE and B-tier for PvP.

Wilderflight Perks and God Rolls

The Wilderflight Void grenade launcher can roll with the following perks:

  • Perk 1: Demolitionist, Envious Arsenal, Reverberation, Slideshot, Repulsor Brace, and Auto-Loading Holster.
  • Perk 2: Bait and Switch, Withering Gaze, Vorpal Weapon, Frenzy, Lead From Gold, and Destabilizing Rounds.
  • Origin Trait: Tex Balanced Stock and Gravity Well.

Wilderflight PvE god rolls

PvE Roll: All-Around
Barrel Quick Launch
Magazine Spike Grenades
Perk 1 Envious Arsenal (also good: Auto-Loading Holster)
Perk 2 Bait and Switch (also good: Withering Gaze)
Masterwork Handling
Origin Trait Gravity Well

Given that we are primarily going to utilise this weapon as a swap-rotation damage weapon, we want to maximise Handling and damage, so we opt for Quick Launch, Spike Grenades, and a Handling masterwork.

In perk slot one, Envious Arsenal is the standout option, but Auto-Loading Holster is a good alternative. For the second perk slot, Bait and Switch is king as it synergises perfectly with Envious Arsenal. However, if you’d like to have some utility, you can pair Withering Gaze with Auto-Loading Holster to have an easy-access debuff.

Wilderflight PvP god rolls

PvP Roll: All-Around
Barrel Quick Launch
Magazine Proximity Grenades
Perk 1 Slideshot (also good: Demolitionist)
Perk 2 Vorpal Weapon
Masterwork Velocity
Origin Trait Tex Balanced Stock

Handling and Velocity are key on Grenade Launchers in PvP, so Quick Launch and a Velocity Masterwork are good here. Additionally, the Tex Balanced Stock will further boost our Handling, as practically all our damage is from the hip with a GL. Proximity Grenades are the best choice as you won’t be able to take full advantage of Spike Grenades due to the Double-Fire archetype.

For perk 1, Slideshot is great for keeping up the pressure when you have a lot of ammo, but Demolitionist is a decent alternative. For perk slot 2, there aren’t many great options, but Vorpal Weapon will be the best as it potentially allows you to chunk enemy supers.

How to get Wilderflight

The new version of Wilderflight is a part of the Rite of the Nine event. It can be attuned for at the event’s social space, increasing its drop chance.

As for actual sources, the weapon can drop from the Spire of the Watcher dungeon, and also has a chance to drop from the chest featured in the social space for 250 Nonary Manifolds. Alternatively, you can complete the First Watch quest from The Emissary. Adept variants of Wilderflight can also be acquired through Spire of the Watcher on Ultimatum difficulty. You can find the entire Spire of the Watcher Loot table rotation here.
