Destiny 2 New Telesto + Catalyst (Heresy Buffs)

by | Feb 8, 2025

A weapon that has been virtually useless for years now, The Queenbreaker is about to get its fifteen seconds of glory. With Episode: Heresy, The Queenbreaker received significant Buffs and a capable Catalyst geared towards PvE.

Plus, with Particle Deconstruction as part of the Seasonal Artifact, The Queenbreaker may finally be able to shine… Today, we cover both this Linear Fusion Rifle and its brand-new Catalyst.

How to get the Telesto Catalyst in Episode: Heresy

The Telesto Catalyst can drop when completing Expert or Master Lost Sectors. We recommend until an easy Lost Sector appears in order to farm for the Catalyst more efficiently (we cover each Lost Sector’s difficulty here).

Telesto Catalyst Changes

Before Episode: Heresy, Telesto’s Catalyst added Deeper Pockets to the weapon:

Increases the magazine size by +3 and expands ammo reserves.

However, with Update 8.2.0, the Catalyst also adds Harbinger Vestiges:

After three activations of Harbinger’s Pulse, special reload the weapon to cause a rain of Telesto projectiles on your next direct hit.

Needless to say, this change alone greatly helps Telesto rise to the top of the Meta. And if that wasn’t enough, Telesto itself received significant buffs, too. More of that in a moment.

Upon acquiring the Catalyst, you’ll need 300 kills with Telesto to upgrade it. As is usual with objectives like this, the Shuro Chi encounter in the Last Wish raid is the go-to spot for farming.

How to get the Telesto Exotic

Telesto can be somewhat elusive. The weapon isn’t tied to a specific Exotic quest, and you can’t get it from the Monument to Lost Lights, meaning there isn’t a direct path to the weapon. You’ll have to get lucky and have it drop from one of these random RNG-based sources:

  • Random Exotic drops or Activity Completion
  • Xur’s rotation or Xur’s Fated Engram

Getting the weapon through Xur can be pretty frustrating, as it may take months, but due to the Fated Engram providing an Exotic you do not have, you will get it if you persist. Therefore, if you don’t own the Exotic weapon or class-specific armor piece that Xur is selling, buy them to improve your odds with the Fated Engram.

How good is Telesto?

Telesto features the following exotic perks:

  • Unplanned Reprieve: Fusion projectiles attach and detonate with a delayed Void blast.
  • Harbinger’s Pulse: Multikills with Void damage immediately reload this weapon from reserves.

🚨 Harbinger’s Pulse received major buffs a few days ago, with update 8.2.0:

  • Now only refills Telesto’s ammo from reserves (instead of Telesto and your Kinetic slot weapon).
  • Now triggers with any Void kill, not just Telesto kills.
  • Kill requirement increased from two to three; however, Telesto kills count double (in other words, will trigger off of two Telesto kills, one Telesto kill + one other Void kill, or three other Void kills).
  • Multikill timer increased from two seconds to 4.5 seconds.

Will these buffs and a souped-up catalyst be enough to bring Teslesto to the top of the Meta? Telesto has never been a favorite when it comes to endgame content and that will probably not change in Episode: Heresy (after all, it does require many kills to reach max efficiency). However, expect Telesto to become even more lethal (and fun) in seasonal content or content with high enemy counts.
