Destiny 2 Romantic Death: God Rolls & How to get it

Released with the Ash & Iron Update, Romantic Death is a Void Wave Grenade Launcher that can be farmed by participating in the Call to Arms event. A fantastic weapon to suit any Void build, Romantic Death is basically a Void Forbearance. This guide covers its place in the current Meta, top rolls for PvE and PvP, and how to farm it.

How good is Romantic Death

Romantic Death and Wave Frames, in general, are powerful weapons. Being Void, this weapon has access to the best perk combinations for this element, and with how strong these weapons are, it can be used to great effect. Stats-wise it can be pushed to hold 100 in Velocity, Handling, and Reload Speed, which are all key stats to getting the best out of this weapon. 

Wave Frames are still strong in the current meta when it comes to PvE, and Romantic Death carries the best perk combinations for a Void-based weapon, so straight off the bat, this makes Romantic Death a must-have, which will slot into any Void-focused build seamlessly. Wave Frames are not recommended for usage in PvP, but there is something there to have fun with should you choose to take it into The Crucible. Romantic Death is A-Tier for PvE and D-tier for PvP.

Romantic Death Perks and God Rolls

Romantic Death is a Void, Grenade Launcher, and can roll with the following perks:

• Perk 1: Repulsor Brace, Proximity Power, Reverberation, Stats for All, Threat Detector, Feeding Frenzy.
• Perk 2: Aggregate Charge, Destabilizing Rounds, Impulse Amplifier, Surrounded, One for All, Chain Reaction.
• Origin Trait: Tenacity.

This god roll focuses on how to get the best out of its Void identity, but feeding into the ‘also good’ section of its perks will still produce fantastic results. Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds are the ultimate Void combo. Defeating targets causes a Void burst, which makes surrounding enemies Volatile.

Defeating those enemies or any with a Void debuff will then grant an overshield to your Guardian. This gameplay loop and how powerful this weapon is will tear through enemies with ease, and if any manage to land a shot, the overshield will keep the user safe during a dangerous encounter. The combination of Stats for All and One for All also brings great benefits. Stats for All will push the Handling and Reload Speed to 100 with One for All, which brings a 35% damage buff; it can clear entire fields with just a few shots.

Straight off the bat, Romantic Death is not a great PvP weapon. There is some fun to be had just for the sake of taking enemies off guard or using it to hit a group of opponents grabbing a zone, but ultimately, there are just more effective weapons in the current sandbox.

Reverberation requires a kill, but once up, automatically increases the Blast Radius to 100, which can trap more enemies within its wave leaving their shield low to be picked off, or if already weak, can catch them out when already low on health and ducking for cover. Impulse Amplifier increases Velocity, so these two perks bounce off each other effectively to make it difficult for opponents to escape the oncoming wave. Best used when opponents least expect it, as Wave Frames are very easy to avoid if there’s enough time to react.

How to get Romantic Death

Romantic Death is only available during limited-time events such as Arms Week or, in this case, Call to Arms. You can farm this weapon by completing Call to Arms activities and/or attuning to one of these weapons at Devrim Kay in the Tower.
