Destiny 2 Origin Story: God Rolls & How to get it

Origin Story was first released at the beginning of Destiny 2. Therefore, it’s only fitting that it has been reprised for the Final Shape with a new and improved perk pool.

How good is Origin Story

While it has been a long time since Origin Story was running rampant in the crucible, the new perk pool looks like it could be a strong contender again, especially with how good 450 RPM Auto Rifles are in the current sandbox.

In terms of PvE, the lack of AoE outside of Kinetic Tremors, and with better options available for primary DPS, Origin Story could be in a better place; however, there are some decent potential perk combinations to make it somewhat viable.

Origin Story Perks and God Rolls

The Origin Story auto rifle can roll with the following perks:

• Perk 1: Slideways, Demolitionist, Hip-Fire Grip, Zen Moment, Discord, Attrition Orbs, Feeding Frenzy, Keep Away, Threat Detector, Fragile Focus, Dynamic Sway Reduction, Strategist.
• Perk 2: Snapshot Sights, Swashbuckler, Target Lock, Kinetic Tremors, Onslaught, Gutshot Straight, Eye of the Storm, High Ground, Surrounded, Pugilist, Harmony, Rampage.
• Origin Trait: Vanguard’s Vindication, Nadir Focus

We recommend Fluted Barrel as it provides a boost to handling and also an increase in stability to reduce incoming flinch. For a similar reason, we also recommend ricochet rounds as it allows for a nice boost to stability while slightly increasing your effective range. 

We recommend Demolitionist as it provides a nice burst of grenade energy on kills and using the grenade reloads the weapon allowing you to sustain in some tight situations. Attrition Orbs is also a viable option for higher-level content where siphon mods wouldn’t be as effective, allowing you to still generate Orbs of Light in situations where enemies are more difficult to kill.

We recommend Kinetic Tremors as it is also very useful in situations with hard-to-kill enemies, as sustained fire provides a decent chunk of damage which is also effective over an area of effect instead of pure single-target damage.

Origin Story PvP god rolls

We recommend Arrowhead Brake due to the increase in Handling while also providing a considerable boost to Recoil Direction making it much easier to hit your shots in PvP. If you prefer a boost to range over an arrowhead increase in Handling, Corkscrew Rifling is also a viable option.

Ricochet Rounds is the recommended option as it gives a slight boost to range and stability which will help with the incoming flinch, making one-on-one fights more manageable.

We recommend Keep Away due to how easy it is to stay active and its considerable bonuses. However, Dynamic Sway Reduction or Zen Moment are also viable options if you prefer to play at a faster pace and get closer to your opponent.

We recommend Target Lock as it allows for a faster time to kill and makes missing precision shots slightly less punishing. It also synergizes well with the recommended Origin Trait as Nadir Focus increases range and accuracy with sustained damage, while Target Lock increases the damage output of the weapon.

Overall, Origin Story seems like a very strong option for PvP, especially with the position that 450 RPM Auto Rifles are currently in.

How to get Origin Story

Origin Story can be acquired randomly through drops from the Vanguard playlist. Alternatively, engrams earned from playing the Vanguard playlist can be used to focus Origin Story at Zavala in the Tower.
