Adaptive SMGs are an interesting sub-family. While they share the same RPM as Lightweights (i.e The Recluse), they vary in just enough ways to make them stand out as their own. Mirror Imago is one of these exclusive SMGs, and while it might not stack up against current top-tier PvP picks, it can certainly hold its weight. This guide will cover everything you need to know about it.

How good is Mirror Imago
Most Adaptive SMGs, ironically, tend to excel more in PvE than Lightweights, but that’s usually accompanied by a solid perk selection. Mirror Imago, on the other hand, is geared more towards PvP. It has very solid base stats, an almost perfect recoil direction, and the perk pool is filled with excellent choices like Moving Target or To the Pain in slot 1, and Target Lock, Sword Logic, and Offhand Strike in slot 2. Its origin trait also ramps up your stability and handling as you deal damage or land final blows, making it even easier to land hits!
For PvE, it’s held back by the lackluster options in slot 1, as your best reload option is Grave Robber. Though, with the proliferation of ranged melees, it’s not all bad. And the slot 2 choices are strong, if not a little underwhelming. Mirror Imago is C-Tier for PvE and A-tier for PvP.

Mirror Imago PvE god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
Magazine | Tactical Mag |
Perk 1 | Grave Robber (also good: Pugilist) |
Perk 2 | Sword Logic or Swashbuckler |
Masterwork | Stability |
Origin Trait | Willing Vessel |
For some basic QoL, we’ll be running Fluted Barrel and Tactical Mag, as these keep the weapon feeling very consistent. Pair it with a stability masterwork and the Willing Vessel origin trait, and you’ll have no issue keeping shots on target.
Perk 1 doesn’t have a lot of PvE options, but Grave Robber or Pugilist are easily the top two. Subsistence, while nice, might struggle in higher end activities or against heftier ads. As for Perk 2, any of the four damage options are nice, but Sword Logic or Swashbuckler feed into Perk 1’s options so that it’s hard to pick any others.
Mirror Imago PvP god rolls
PvP Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Smallbore |
Magazine | Accurized Rounds |
Perk 1 | Moving Target (also good: To the Pain) |
Perk 2 | Sword Logic or Target Lock |
Masterwork | Range |
Origin Trait | Willing Vessel |
For PvP, range is one of the most important stats, which is why we are bumping it as much as possible here. Smallbore, Accurized Rounds, and a range masterwork will be all you need to pump out a few extra meters of dropoff.
For Perk 1, Moving Target is easily your best option here with To the Pain as a good alternative. With how much movement is available to players, having something that helps you stick and move while shooting is perfect, and To the Pain helps in those dicey fights. Perk 2 has a good spread of damage perks to pick from, but Sword Logic or Target Lock are your top choices. Sword Logic nets you a solid 20% damage boost, which brings the optimal TTK down to .6 seconds, and Target Lock had its nerf on SMGs reverted, bringing it back into prominence.
How to get Mirror Imago
As all Heretical weapons from Episode 3, you can obtain the Mirror Imago as a reward from The Nether upon completion or from random chests in the area. Make sure to use the Wombo Detector Ghost mod to find chests as efficiently as possible. We cover all Heretical weapons here.
Additionally, you can focus the weapon at the Tome of Want for an additional cost by using Scriptures, making it worthwhile to gather materials to get your hands on a good roll of this weapon.
