How good is MIDA Mini-Tool
MIDA Mini-Tool is definitely a top-tier SMG for PvE, boasting the best perk Solar primary perk combination. In PvP, however, it’s definitely a lot less potent.
Generally speaking, MIDA Mini-Tool is comparable to Yeartide Apex, both of which are in the same archetype (its frame is the same as Lightweight, outside of the MIDA synergy). But, where Yeartide Apex offers versatility in its PvE perk selections, the Mini-Tool instead sticks to the old reliable Heal Clip + Incandescent and provides a better origin trait in Vanguard Determination.
As for PvP, most of the perks on the MIDA Mini-Tool are pretty much PvE-focused. There’s no immediate PvE pick here, like Target Lock or Rangefinder, so it’s a lot harder to immediately recommend this for PvP. But, you can use it as a close-range backup option with Hip-Fire Grip, and get extra damage from Master of Arms or even Aggregate Charge. MIDA Mini-Tool is S-Tier for PvE and B-tier for PvP.

MIDA Mini-Tool PvE god rolls
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
| Magazine | Flared Magwell |
| Perk 1 | Heal Clip (also good: Attrition Orbs) |
| Perk 2 | Incandescent (also good: Burning Ambition) |
| Masterwork | Reload Speed |
| Origin Trait | Vanguard Determination |
When it comes to the Barrel and Magazine, we recommend Fluted Barrel for the extra handling, and Flared Magwell for the extra reload speed, making it easier to reload for Heal Clip.
In the first perk column, Heal Clip is the obvious pick. It’s great for survivability and provides an easy way to stay alive in almost any situation, which is great for such a close-range weapon. Attrition Orbs will give you 1-2 orbs per magazine with sustained damage, but with the downside of less immediate survivability, especially as Recouperation isn’t as free as it used to be with the introduction of the Health stat.
Moving on to the second perk column, Incandescent is our choice. This AoE perk is great for splash damage and is the signature Solar ad-clear perk for a reason. Otherwise, if you want an option for sustained fire, Burning Ambition can inflict scorch in one magazine, which is great for passive damage over time and staggering combatants.
MIDA Mini-Tool PvP god rolls
| PvP Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Smallbore |
| Magazine | Ricochet Rounds |
| Perk 1 | Perpetual Motion |
| Perk 2 | Master of Arms (also good: Aggregate Charge) |
| Masterwork | Range |
| Origin Trait | Roar of Battle |
As is pretty standard for an SMG, you’ll want to take Smallbore and Ricochet Rounds to buff your range and stability. On top of this, you’ll want to masterwork Range to allow you to engage in combat at a more comfortable distance.
In the first perk column, Perpetual Motion is a great choice with a passive buff to Stability, Handling, and Reload Speed if you keep moving. This works great with its frame, as you move faster while holding it. So, if you want to play a run-and-gun strategy with an SMG, this is a pretty decent pick.
As for the second perk column, you can opt for Master of Arms for a modest damage/TTK boost if you can consistently get kills with it throughout a whole match. Moreover, Aggregate Charge does present another niche for the MIDA Mini-Tool in that a Smoke Bomb can increase the weapon’s TTK very passively.
