Festival of the Lost is here, bringing some extra treats this time. While a new legendary weapon is par for the course when it comes to holiday events in Destiny 2, this one brought something even more exciting: an entirely new weapon frame.
Today, we’ll cover the first addition to the heavy burst frame of shotguns: Arcane Embrace.

How good is Arcane Embrace
While Arcane Embrace automatically earns points solely for being so novel, it also offers a fair bit of raw power.
Arcane Embrace’s primary competitors are slug shotguns, most of which are solid options in their individual slots (Heritage is likely the best example of this). Luckily, in PvE, Arcane Embrace keeps up. With top-tier damage perks like Surrounded, this shotgun can pump out some substantial damage in the right scenario.
As for The Crucible, most of Arcane Embrace’s strength comes from perks that are new with Episode: Revenant. While the weapon isn’t on track to replace anyone’s current favorite, it can put in some solid with the right roll. Arcane Embrace is S-Tier in PvE and B-Tier in PvP.

Arcane Embrace PvE god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
Magazine | Tactical Mag |
Perk 1 | Fourth Time’s the Charm |
Perk 2 | Surrounded (also good: Precision Instrument) |
Masterwork | Handling |
As is typical for PvE, we’ll start with options that offer us high handling and reload speed: Fluted Barrel, Tactical Mag, and a handling masterwork.
Fourth Time’s the Charm is the play for column one, allowing you to avoid reloading and searching for ammo as much as possible. For your final perk, Surrounded’s 40% damage increase is hard to beat; however, if you find it hard to keep it up, Precision Instrument is a solid second choice.
Arcane Embrace PvP god rolls
PvP Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Smallbore |
Magazine | Steady Rounds |
Perk 1 | Slideshot |
Perk 2 | Closing Time |
Masterwork | Stability |
To begin our PvP roll, we’ll start with building almost entirely into stability with Smallbore, Steady Rounds, and a stability masterwork.
The reason for this is our main perks. Both Slideshot and Closing Time provide 20 range (among other things), bringing Arcane Embrace’s range stat to 100 even with Steady Rounds’ -5. While this roll provides consistency and nothing more, it should result in an experience that is reminiscent of a traditional slug shotgun.
How to get Arcane Embrace
Arcane Embrace is an exclusive weapon for the Festival of the Lost, meaning you must do Festival of the Lost-themed activities to obtain it. Exchanging Candy, completing Haunted Lost Sectors, and any other questlines will help you get this gun.
On top of that, you will now have the opportunity to obtain ‘Eerie Engrams,’ a new system coming with this year’s rendition of Festive of the Lost. These engrams can be decrypted directly at Rahool, or you can focus them at Eva Levante to get a randomized weapon for 500 Candy or 1000 Candy for a specific weapon, including Arcane Embrace. We cover all Festival of the Lost Weapons here.
