How to get Wolfbane
You can acquire the Wolfbane Exotic axe by completing the Heliostat Exotic Mission, released on October 7, 2025.
How to get the Wolfbane Catalysts
Three catalysts are available for the Wolfsbane exotic Sword:
- Attrition Orbs
- Relentless Strikes
- Burning Ambition
To be able to use these, you’ll need to get your level on Wolfsbane high enough to be able to craft them on the weapon in the Enclave. As of today, only the Attrition Orbs catalyst is available.
Attrition Orbs
For the Attrition Orbs refit, you’ll need to acquire a datapad at the start of the mission. Run into the radiation area and down until you get to the first door, then turn behind the door and obtain the datapad.
Then, continue through the radiation zone until you get to this terminal. Interact with it, then complete the mission, and you’ll be able to get the Attrition Orbs catalyst.
Is the Wolfbane Craftable?
Wolfbane will be fully craftable, including several perks and Catalysts. You’ll be able to unlock perks by accumulating completions and solving puzzles and challenges within the Exotic Mission. Expect enhanced perks, too, allowing you to craft your very own God Roll at the Enclave on Mars.
Wolfbane Intrinsic Perks & God Rolls

Wolfbane PvE god roll
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Blade | Tempered Edge |
| Guards | Jagged Edge or Enduring Edge |
| Handle | Tenacious Handle |
| Catalyst | Relentless Strikes or Subroutine: ~Recursion (also good: Attrition Orbs) |
For the blade, we suggest Tempered Edge. While you do lose one point in the Impact stat, you get +10 ammo capacity, making general play with Wolfsbane more comfortable in terms of ammo economy. For the Guard, you can go for either Jagged or Enduring Edge, depending on whether you want to go for more damage or ammo, and for the Handle, Tenacious Edge is the way to go.
For the catalyst, there are a couple of unique options to go for. First, Relentless Strikes is obviously a solid pick for boss damage use cases. However, Subroutine: ~Recursion is an interesting pick that could suit both general and boss damage play, as the increased damage resist is beneficial no matter what, and the increased nanite generation when taking damage during Nano-Assault will allow you to enter that empowered state more often. Finally, while a tad more niche, Attrition Orbs can also be a solid option, as it has a cool interaction with the Flaming Tornado, generating a ton of Orbs.
Wolfbane PvP god roll
Due to the place of Exotic Swords in the meta (and Wolfbane’s direct competitors), Wolfbane is absolutely not worth farming for the Crucible…
How good is Wolfbane?
Wolfsbane is remarkably unique as while it is a ‘Sword’ it functions rather uniquely, and is essentially an axe. However, despite this uniqueness, Wolfsbane doesn’t really do much to shake up any of the current metas in PvE, and being a Heavy Weapon, it won’t hold too much ground in PvP either.
In PvE, Wolfsbane can be used as a boss damage option, particularly if you are able to optimise your Nano-Assault uptime and spawn as many flaming tornadoes as possible with the heavy attack; however, compared to most meta strategies and damage rotations (such as Mint Retrograde + Finality’s Auger or Parasite), it doesn’t hold a candle. That being said, however, it does output a respectable amount of total damage, essentially being comparable to a standard Adaptive Sword from our small amounts of testing. Perhaps a better use for Wolfsbane is treating it as more of a ‘general play’ weapon. It can handle a variety of enemy types and is best suited towards content such as Reclaim or Onslaught, particularly as Nano-Assault grants 14 Sword Ammo when activated.
In PvP, Wolfsbane, while cool, isn’t going to be the go-to for anyone. Exotic Heavies in the Crucible are already rather rare, as you need to give up powerful exotics like Chaperone, Hawkmoon, or even Ace of Spades, but the ranged Heavy Attack can make for some funny kills. Overall, Wolfsbane is A-Tier in PvE and D-Tier in PvP
