How good is Red Tape
While Lightweight Scout Rifles aren’t very noticeable in the current meta, Red Tape has some decent perk options to make it viable in both PvE and PvP.
In PvE, Red Tape can be a viable option with good combinations for both general play and as a backup damage option for some of the beefier enemy types, alongside the seasonal Anti-Barrier Scout Rifle.
PvP also has some decent perk options available, making the weapon more viable as an off-meta pick.

- Origin Trait: Dark Ether Reaper.
Red Tape PvE god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
Magazine | Flared Magwell |
Perk 1 | Rimestealer (also good: Demolitionist) |
Perk 2 | Headstone (also good: Adrenaline Junkie) |
Masterwork | Stability |
Fluted Barrel and Flared Magwell are both recommended for a much needed boost to this weapon’s stability.
In terms of perks, Rimestealer and Headstone are recommended as they have very nice synergy in terms of improving survivability in general play. Headstone creates Stasis Crystals on critical kills, which can then be used to activate Rimestealer, granting the user Frost Armour.
Demolitionist and Adrenaline Junkie is also a viable option, especially when using ability focused builds. Demolitionist allows for much more frequent grenade usage, pairing with Adrenaline Junkie to provide a higher uptime on the weapon’s damage boost.
Overall, a good weapon with uses in multiple different scenarios.
Red Tape PvP god rolls
PvP Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Arrowhead Brake |
Magazine | Steady Rounds |
Perk 1 | Keep Away |
Perk 2 | Explosive Payload |
Masterwork | Stability |
Arrowhead Brake is recommended to boost Handling while significantly improving this weapon’s Recoil Direction.
Steady Rounds and a Stability Masterwork is recommended to reduce incoming flinch as much as possible. Although Steady Rounds does reduce range, Keep Away will almost always be active when using a Scout Rifle, taking the damage falloff to 70+ meters.
Explosive Payload is recommended as the explosive damage has no falloff range and makes duels harder for your opponent, as it causes a significant amount of flinch.
