The final act of Episode: Revenant is here, and with it has come a new exotic mission that offers a pretty sweet shotgun. Especially as of recent, the missions that hold these unique exotics have become significantly more complex, adding more mechanics and puzzles that aren’t dissimilar from dungeons.
Today, we’ll cover exactly how to complete Kell’s Fall, granting seasonal loot, tonic ingredients, and, most importantly, the craftable Slayer’s Fang exotic shotgun.
How to unlock Kell’s Fall: Reflection
The Kell’s Fall exotic mission is directly integrated into the Episode: Revenant storyline. After progressing to Act 3 (and speaking with a few characters in the Last City), you’ll be prompted to load into Kell’s Fall: Reflection.
In addition to Reflection, two other variants exist, both of which are unlocked later in the episode’s storyline. There are little to no gameplay differences between them; they simply have different final bosses and unique dialogue.
Destiny 2 Kell’s Fall Walkthrough
Traversing into Fikrul’s Domain
At the start of the mission, you’ll spawn outside a watchtower that may look familiar to Destiny 2 veterans. Complete the simple traversal section until you make it to the tower’s gate, where you’ll encounter The Trickster.
Other than her usual decoy ammo drops, there aren’t any special mechanics to this fight—simply damage The Trickster until she teleports away.
Upon entering the watchtower, you’ll be greeted by a large playable organ. While Crow and other characters will tell you to keep an eye on it through the radio, ignore it for now—it simply houses secrets for later runs. Instead, go to the upper left balcony and follow the path. You’ll know you’re going the right way if it leads to an unlit fire pit next to a closed door. Light the fire pit by interacting with it to continue.
In the following room, destroy the glowing rocks and proceed through the cave until you find a mirror. Shoot at it, then jump through it.
Continue through the path until you find a second mirror. Before teleporting back into the standard dimension, look for glowing unlit fire pits. If you don’t spot any, don’t worry—they’re likely in the other realm, so teleport through and search there. After you find two, a door will open in the standard dimension, letting you progress forward to the first encounter.
Conquer the Fighting Pit
The first encounter is pretty simple; begin by entering the mirror in the center of the arena, ignoring all the enemies that spawn. When you teleport to the mirror dimension, search around for Revenant Essentia enemies. These will drop darkness motes upon death, and picking up 10 will grant the Revenant Empowerment.
Upon gaining this larger buff (which lasts indefinitely), you’ll want to go through the mirror again to kill the two Pit Enforcers in the standard dimension. Finally, kill The Mad Bomber (who spawns after defeating the Enforcers) to complete the encounter.
Locate the Sanctum
The first encounter is followed by a pretty standard jumping puzzle. Continue through, following the lit rooms and caves to eventually find the next rally banner and encounter.
Defeat the Mindbender
Upon arriving at the next rally banner, you’ll see a mirror along with a few unlit fire pits. You can safely ignore the fire pits, and simply walk through the mirror to begin the encounter.
One quick thing to note about this encounter is that you’ll automatically gain a debuff entitled “Refracting” whenever you’re in the mirror dimension. This lasts two minutes, and the only way to stop it from counting down is by returning to the standard realm. If it hits zero, you’ll start taking small chunks of damage until you either die or safely escape the mirror dimension, so keep an eye on your timer!
Damage The Mindbender enough to make them teleport away, then look to the left of the room for a cave system. Inside this cave system, you’ll find a second mirror that you’ll eventually want to go through. However, just like the portion of the mission before the first encounter, you’ll want to search around the mirror dimension for a bit first to ensure you don’t miss any unlit fire pits. After activating three total (we consistently had one appear in the mirror dimension and two appear in the normal dimension, but this can vary), a door will open in the normal realm.
Enter through this door to once again find The Mindbender in a damageable state. Continue damaging until they teleport away once more, then move through the door and into the mirror to defeat The Mindbender.
Locate the Throne Room
After defeating The Mindbender, exit the mirror dimension by following your objective marker. The path from here to the throne room is relatively straightforward, although you’ll eventually be blocked by The Trickster again (who you’ll just need to pump damage into until she dies).
Conquer the Throne Room
The encounter will start with The Fanatic spawning a large group of enemies. After killing all of them, Fikrul will prepare an attack. To dodge it (and also to progress the encounter!), enter the mirror that opened in the center of the arena.
The mirror dimension is the same as the first encounter: you’ll just want to find and defeat enough Revenant Essentia enemies to gain 10 stacks of Revenant Essence (which will automatically convert into Revenant Empowerment).
After gaining Revenant Empowerment, return back to the standard dimension, where Fikrul will summon The Hangman (assuming you’re playing the mission for the first time). Kill him, and Slayer’s Fang will be yours.
How to get Slayer’s Fang Catalysts
There are four catalysts available for Slayer’s Fang, all enhancing the weapon with a different perk. If previous exotics are anything to go off of, these catalysts should be available through the Expert difficulty of Kell’s Fall. The four catalysts for Slayer’s Fang are:
- Repulsor Brace
- Stats for All
- Cascade Point
- Loose Change
As is typical with exotic weapon catalysts, you’ll need to get several hundred weapon kills to fully unlock each catalyst. Shuro Chi is the most efficient method of farming these, but other options like Grasp of Averice’s entrance are fine as well.
How good is Slayer’s Fang?
Slayer’s Fang features the following unique perks:
- Nightsworn Sight: Dealing final blows to targets grants Nightsworn Sight. During that time, final blows grant Truesight, ammo slowly reloads from reserves, and submunitions weaken targets.
- Heart Piercer: Rounds from this weapon shatter into submunitions on impact. Strong against Overload Champions.
In PvE, Slayer’s Fang is more of a fun option than anything else. While all four catalysts do boost the shotgun’s potency a substantial amount, the weapon doesn’t fill a damage or crowd control niche that hasn’t yet been filled by other options.
As for The Crucible, the only useful trait Slayer’s Fang contains is that it grants Truesight, which doesn’t matter much in the grand scheme of things. Some Guardians may like the feel of this weapon over others, but most will opt to use their exotic slot on something else.
Overall, Slayer’s Fang is expected to be B-Tier in PvE and PvP.
You can actually counteract the shattering by fireteam members shooting you. At least that was what we experienced when it first dropped.
