The Praxic Blade has arrived in Destiny 2, and it provides one of the most unique weapon experiences in the game. With a ton of utility, quality-of-life, and fun, there’s a good chance that this will be the go-to for casual and endgame players during neutral gameplay. In this guide, we show you to get its four catalysts.

How to get the Praxic Blade
You can acquire the Praxis Blade Exotic lightsaber by completing the Fire & Ice Exotic Mission.
Praxic Blade Catalysts and Customization
There are four different catalysts for Praxic Blade:
- Echoing Blade: Increases the number of targets that the thrown Sword can hit.
- Upper Hand: Increases the damage of the thrown Sword and reflected shots while on higher ground than the target.
- Hyperblade: Reflecting shots causes you to become amplified and grants this Sword increased lunge distance for a single swing.
- Energy Conduit: Grants health regeneration based on the number of targets hit by the thrown Sword.
Three of them are available right now, whereas the last one is yet to be discovered as it’s within the ‘Equilibrium’ dungeon, which releases on the 13th December 2025. The other catalysts can be found within the Fire and Ice mission. All of these will be given after you complete the mission, provided that you’ve completed the prerequisite steps to do so.
How to get the Praxic Blade Catalysts: Praxic Path
After you’ve completed the Renegades campaign for the first time, you’ll receive a quest called ‘Praxic Path’. This quest will allow you to get the catalyst upgrades and different blade colours for the Praxic Blade, and will be part of how you take full advantage of the Praxic Blade’s capabilities.
During this quest, you’ll have to replay the Fire & Ice mission repeatedly to find more parts for the Praxic Blade, which means that keeping this guide to your side will be handy to make sure you can speedrun it as fast as possible.
Unlocking the Energy Conduit Catalyst
Step 1 & 2 – Complete the Equilibrium Dungeon
Once you’ve completed the main story of Renegades, you’ll pick up the ‘The Way Between’ quest. The first two steps of the quest are to speak to Aunor in the Cantina and then complete your first run of Equilibrium.
Step 3 – Integrate the 1st Darkness Relic
After completing the dungeon, you’ll acquire an Integrated Relic, which you’ll need to insert into the Praxic Temple.
The Praxic Temple is located at the beginning of the dungeon, in the 1st encounter arena, and can be accessed by walking right up to it. You don’t need to start or finish the encounter to enter it, just head straight inside.
Inside, there will be a small table with four slots. Head to the first one and insert the Integrated Relic.
Step 4 – 2nd Darkness Relic & Puzzle
From here, you’ll need to complete three steps, three times: Acquire another Relic, Integrate it, and then Insert it into the table. To acquire each Relic, you’ll need to complete a puzzle hidden within the dungeon, then complete the dungeon to Integrate it. You’ll need to use Praxic Blade for the puzzles, so make sure you or a fireteam member has it equipped.
(Note: If you have a friend who’s already completed the quest, you’ll be able to complete all three of these puzzles in one run and skip out two whole playthroughs of the dungeon.)
To access the first puzzle, finish the first encounter, and then head back into the main room where the temple is. Head through the Right doorway, and you’ll find a taken ball. Destroy it using Praxic Blade,.
Throughout the puzzles, you’ll be building your Shadow buff to complete challenges while under a timer. You’ll gain the buff while killing enemies, but the main way to do so is to defeat the ‘Forgotten Eyes’, which will grant you 15 seconds onto your timer, and drop a taken pool.
Kill everything in the area, and once you’re Shadow Master, use your grenade ability on the Taken Captain to pop its shield. Once down, another taken blight will appear on the perimeter of the bubble. Use Praxic Blade to destroy it and remove the shield.`
From here, use one of the Sparrows provided to continue forward, killing the Forgotten Eyes as you go. There will be another mini encounter in the Brig section of the track, and another at the end of the track, on the opposite side to where you started.
In this end section, once everyone is killed, you’ll need to use Praxic Blade again to destroy a Taken Blight on the left wall. This will reveal a switch.
Hit it, and you’ll open a door to the right of it. Head inside to pick up the next Relic. Afterwards, continue the dungeon as normal, and complete it to receive the next Integrated Relic.
Return to the Praxic Temple to insert the Relic.
Step 5 – 3rd Darkness Relic & Puzzle
The next puzzle is located in the traversal between the 1st and 2nd encounters, just before the chasm jump between the two ships.
Break the Taken Blight with Praxic Blade to begin.
In this puzzle, you’ll be loosely taking the same route as you usually would in this traversal, but with the stress of a timer and the Taken Captains to deal with.
Be on the lookout for Taken Switches around the room, as these will open up small rooms with Forgotten Eyes inside for an extended timer.
Once you’ve completed everything in the first room, make your way over the chasm to the next section.
Continue forward until you get to the vents. Destroy the Taken Blight with Praxic Blade, and then shoot the vents (carefully) as usual.
After clearing out the next room, use Praxic Blade to pop the bubble outside of the switches, then activate the switch to complete the puzzle.
Head inside to claim your next Relic. Complete a full run of the dungeon to successfully integrate it.
Once again, submit your findings to the Praxic Temple at the beginning of the encounter.
Step 6 – 4th Darkness Relic & Puzzle
The final Darkness Puzzle can be found in the traversal between the 2nd and 3rd encounters, and is the longest out of the three to be completed. Once again, destroy the Taken Blight with Praxic Blade to begin.
In this room, you’ll need to get to Shadow Master and eliminate the Taken Captain to continue (or, just bonk him off the edge with your shadow grenade). Use Praxic Blade once again to destroy the Taken Blight and move forward.
In the next room, head to the center platform and kill the Taken Captain to continue.
Here, plenty of Taken Blights will begin spawning all around the arena. When these are hit with Praxic Blade, they’ll spawn small Taken platforms that can be climbed on, alongside more Eyes for time and buff refreshes.
In this section, there are three taken Switches you’ll need to activate to open the door to the next area. They’ll be spread around the arena, so an eager edge sword is essential for the encounter.
As you continue, you’ll find another taken-protected switch. Hit the Taken Blight with Praxic Blade and activate the switch.
This will open the final room and give you access to the fourth Relic. Complete the dungeon one last time to integrate this.
Head back to the Praxic Temple and insert your fourth Relic.
Step 7 – Open the Taken Portal
By reclaiming all the relics, the Taken Portal will open. Head to the platform above the relics, and interact with it to make your way into the Shadow Realm.
Step 8 – Defeat Shade of Sere
In this secret boss fight, you’re battling the ‘Shade of Sere’, who is a larger version of the Shadow Sere’s in the 3rd encounter. In this encounter, you’ll be building your Shadow stacks up until Master to build the arena, and break the Shade’s shields. Every time you have Master and use the buff, your stacks will reset down to Novice, so be careful what you’re using it on.
By obtaining Shadow Master and breaking one of the Taken Blights, you’ll expose a single Eye and two floating blights. The floating blights both spawn a platform with an Eye on each. You’ll need to repeat this in the four corners of the Arena to build all of the platforms in the arena.
The second use of Shadow Master is to Compel the boss, which takes down ¼ of it’s shield in each compel. It’s a good idea to save Compelling until last, as the buffs are taken by other responsibilities.
Once the Shade’s shield is low, and the arena is fully built, climb your way to the very top to deal damage. The Shade’s health bar is split into two, so you’ll need to reset this process one more time to defeat him.
Once defeated, you’ll earn the ‘Energy Conduit’ catalyst, among other rewards.
Upper Hand Catalyst
For the Upper Hand catalyst, at the start of the mission, explore the left and right sides of the spawn until you find two Taken knights on each. Kill both of them.
Then, when you’ve finished the first ball encounter, and leave the plane through the portal before re-entering for the boss fight. Come back to these locations; there will be two Taken blights that you need to destroy with Praxic Blade. Do so, then continue.
Once you’re in the Disciple of Harrow fight, there will be two white blights under the room. Fill these up to be able to unlock the catalyst.
Echoing Blade Catalyst
For the Echoing Blade catalyst, you need to find and destroy some items with the Praxic Blade. However, before doing so, you need to shoot the four Pyramid Switches in the room in which you pick up the Imbalanced Octant after entering the Ascendant Plane (before the jumping puzzle). Once you’ve done this, you’ll see that the realm has revealed secrets — this is the go-ahead for finding these items.
For the first ‘oddity’, drop down into the pillar in which the jumping puzzle begins, and keep an eye out for the ledge to your left, and land on it. Continue jumping along the icy path on the walls until you reach a special ammo crate, and there will be a phasing wall next to it. Throw your Praxic Blade at the oddity, and it’ll confirm it in the log.
Then, drop down and continue forward. The second one is in the drop down area behind the phasing walls, and indicated by another special ammo crate.
Next, go to the wall of pistons, and head to the right. Climb up the tower, and continue forward instead of jumping back onto the wall. Your third oddity will be around here.
The fourth oddity is in the claustrophobia room after you jump up on the pistons inside the vault. There will be a ledge as you enter to the left; crouch jump up, and over into the hole. The floor underneath will disappear, and you’ll be able to drop down revealing another oddity.
Once you get past the disappearing floor and start scaling the vault, continue on towards the final hole out of the large room. On the way, there will be a platform with a disappearing ceiling. Jump into it, and the fifth oddity will be in there.
The sixth oddity is in the jumping puzzle outside of the hall. Continue down the path until you get around halfway to the apex of the mountain, and look down. You’ll see some ledges, which you’ll need to jump down. Then, look over to the side — you’ll see the oddity, and will need to bounce your Praxic Blade off of the wall to hit it.
For the final oddity, continue back up until you reach the pyramid structure at the top. You’ll eventually find the final oddity in the vents above. Once you’ve done this, the catalyst will be primed to be unlocked at the end of the mission.
Hyperblade Catalyst
The Hyperblade catalyst is unlocked by spawning four Imbalance Wardens in the four-ball encounter; failing each ball will make an Imbalance Warden spawn. Kill it, and then continue on until all four are killed.
Then, once you’ve done all four, there will be four blights in the middle of the room. Destroy them with the Praxic Blade, and you’ll spawn an Ogre boss.
Kill it to prime the catalyst for unlocking at the end of the mission.
