How good is Phoneutria Fera
Phoneutria Fera is one of the most powerful primaries we have. The spread-shot nature, coupled with the hand cannon’s intrinsic high damage per shot, means this tears through all manner of foes with little resistance. And the perk pool really lets it excel in its niche, with things like Threat Detector helping its rather abysmal reload speed and Surrounded to really let it chunk.
It also has an amazing origin trait in Tenacity. This increases damage when getting final blows while surrounded, and lasts until you perish, though exact numbers are to be confirmed. Phoneutria Fera is A-Tier for PvE and A-Tier for PvP.

Phoneutria Fera PvE god rolls
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
| Magazine | Appended Mag or Flared Magwell |
| Perk 1 | Threat Detector or Proximity Power |
| Perk 2 | Surrounded or Incandescent (also good: One-Two Punch) |
| Masterwork | Handling |
| Origin Trait | Tenacity |
Borrowing some stats from the Aggressive Frame hand cannons, Phoneutria is going to need love in its handling stat. For that, we’ll be using Fluted Barrel, and then tacking on Appended Mag for a few extra shots. You can opt for Flared Magwell if the allure of two extra shots isn’t enough, but with our perk choices, we shouldn’t need it.
Speaking of, Threat Detector is our best choice for Perk 1. As the name of the game is CQC, having a perk that lives off such an engagement is going to do wonders, but Proximity Power is a good alternative if you want to melee it up. Surrounded is our top Perk 2 choice as it blends nicely with the theme of the weapon, but if you want some more melee synergy, One-Two Punch is there to satisfy that craving.
Phoneutria Fera PvP god rolls
| PvP Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Hammer-Forged Rifling |
| Magazine | Accurized Rounds |
| Perk 1 | Slideshot or Threat Detector (also good: Barrel Constrictor) |
| Perk 2 | Swashbuckler or One-Two Punch |
| Masterwork | Range |
| Origin Trait | Tenacity |
With range being our biggest downside, we’ll want to offset it as much as possible using Hammer-Forged Rifling and Accurized Rounds, along with a range Masterwork. While this won’t make it anywhere close to standard hand cannon range, it will certainly help you keep distance.
For Perk 1, Slideshot or Threat Detector will be your best friends. Slideshot’s range buff will help open a fight, and Threat Detector lets you stick and move a bit easier when up close. Perk 2 will be either of our melee perks, Swashbuckler or One-Two Punch. Swashbuckler will be the better of the two, but if you happen to run Barrel Constrictor for Perk 1, One-Two Punch offers a rather fun loop of landing a kill with the weapon, and then comboing it and your melee to run down the enemy team.
