Released with the Renegades DLC, Oxygen SR3 is a 
Solar Precision Scout Rifle that can be acquired as part of Zavala’s weekly Vanguard Arms rewards. The Oxygen SR3 now features Tiers and new Perks, but will those be enough to compete in the current sandbox? This guide covers its place in the current Meta, top rolls for PvE and PvP, and how to farm it.

How good is the Oxygen SR3
Oxygen SR3 is a classic from a time where we hadn’t even seen our first Pyramid ship, and while it isn’t at the pinnacle of the sandbox, it’s still a very solid workhorse.
Importantly, for PvE it doesn’t stand up to the likes of Vision of Confluence or Nature Reclaimed for a Solar scout, and it doesn’t have the double splash perks to make it a contender against Doom of Chelchis. And, it has a mediocre frame. But, Meganeura is still a solid clear perk (especially once enhanced), and Heal Clip is really solid. It can roll Shoot to Loot for utility too, so it’s very serviceable.
In PvP, however, there’s nothing going for this. Not a single perk is PvP oriented, which is expected from a Vanguard weapon. The best roll is Rapid Hit and Box Breathing, the latter of which can reduce its time-to-kill significantly, but even then it’s just outclassed by the whole sandbox. It simply wasn’t designed to be a PvP weapon. Oxygen SR3 is A-Tier for PvE and B-tier for PvP.

Oxygen SR3 is a weapon that’s meant for slaying out using Meganeura, so we’re mainly looking for quality-of-life in the barrel, magazine, and masterwork. We pick Tactical Mag as ammo uptime is most important here, and Arrowhead Brake is just solid stats.
In the first perk column, the most obvious choice is Heal Clip for solid sustain. It’s the immediate Solar option for a reason. Shoot to Loot also provides great utility, and so it’s not bad to have on this weapon if you need to have access to it.
The second perk column is more interesting, but even if so, Meganeura is the only real option. Burning Ambition would be an option in the first column to pair with it, but otherwise never really feels relevant — there’s an argument that Rapid Hit and Burning Ambition pair well together, but there are also better weapons to do this with. The only reason to use Oxygen SR3 is Meganeura, and so it’s not worth looking at anything else here.

If you want to use Oxygen SR3 in PvP, there’s not much going for it. As with any scout rifle, you want the maximum range to take advantage of the benefits of a scout rifle. So, Hammer-Forged Rifling and Accurized Rounds are no-brainers.
There aren’t many good perks in either of the perk columns for PvP, so we pick the options that will be relevant the most. Rapid Hit is good as it means you can reload more quickly if you run out mid-engagement, and Box Breathing provides some extra damage and stats if you set up a shot. If you do manage to get Box Breathing to work, though, it is a three-tap at 0.67s (but, requires setup time, so account for that).
But, these still don’t feel super relevant, and would only be recommended if you had to take Oxygen SR3 into the Crucible.
How to get the Oxygen SR3
Since the release of Monument of Triumph, it is unclear whether Oxygen SR3 has a permanent source to farm it. Having said that, you can currently pick it up as part of the weekly Vanguard Arms rewards from Zavala at the Tower.
