It’s been a while since a “new” Heavy Arc GL graced our presence, and Bitter/Sweet is here to change that. One of seven seasonal weapons dropping with Act 1 of Episode: Revenant, this GL has some stiff competition, so this guide will go over everything you need to know to get the most out of it.

How good is Bitter/Sweet
While the prospect of a new Heavy Arc GL sounds nice, Bitter/Sweet lacks the perk combos we’ve come to know and love from this class of weapons. However, the newly revised Envious Arsenal (ne Sympathetic) fits right in with Bait and Switch, as both require damage from the other two weapons to activate, with Arsenal providing a full reload on activation. It might not double your mag, but the simple activation makes this very strong.
In PvP, all Heavy GLs are getting a small bump to their direct impact damage. While it’s too early to say whether this moves the needle at all in terms of effectiveness, the perk pool doesn’t lend too well here either, meaning this is yet another one for the vault.
Best alternatives:

Wendigo GL3 | Grenade Launcher | Heavy | Arc | Nightfall: The Ordeals | Explosive Light |
Bitter/Sweet Perks & God Rolls
The Bitter/Sweet grenade launcher can roll with the following perks:
- Perk 1: Reverberation, Stats For All, Unrelenting, Perpetual Motion, Attrition Orbs, Loose Change, Envious Arsenal.
- Perk 2: Jolting Feedback, Cascade Point, Explosive Light, Bait and Switch, Harmony, Killing Tally, Frenzy.
- Origin Trait: Dark Ether Reaper
Bitter/Sweet PvE god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Hard Launch |
Magazine | Spike Grenades |
Perk 1 | Envious Arsenal (also good: Perpetual Motion) |
Perk 2 | Bait and Switch |
Masterwork | Velocity |
Bitter/Sweet will still have the most benefit from Hard Launch for the sake of hitting targets a bit farther out and reducing the Blast Radius stat. Spike Grenades, as always, for better damage, and a Velocity Masterwork to bring it even higher.
Perk 1 has an easy choice in Envious Arsenal. Reworked to fit better into damage rotations, it’s really the only good choice here for damage loadouts. Perpetual Motion is an alright alternative, but the reload speed buff is middling at best. Perk 2 is, of course, Bait and Switch, simply for how it synergizes with Envious. Having the same activation conditions means less hassle when it comes time to do DPS.
Bitter/Sweet PvP god rolls
PvP Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Quick Launch |
Magazine | Proximity Grenades |
Perk 1 | Perpetual Motion (also good: Reverberation) |
Perk 2 | Frenzy (also good: Killing Tally) |
Masterwork | Velocity |
While Blast Radius damage was reduced ever so slightly on Heavy GLs, they’ll still kill most Guardians unaware in PvP. Quick Launch for Velocity, Proximity Grenades for the extra forgiveness, and a Velocity MW for easier hits.
Perpetual Motion is really the only viable perk for Perk 1, as anything else is a waste. Reverberation might be good for follow-up kills, but that’s highly coincidental, and Unrelenting isn’t going to save you. Frenzy is also the only really viable perk for Perk 2, though Killing Tally and Reverberation together could make for a fun combo once it gets going.
