Destiny 2 Avalanche: God Rolls & How to get it

Another Dawning, another set of gifts from Grandma Eva. While most eyes will be on the new Linear Fusion Rifle, the rest of the rewards received perk refreshes, including Avalanche. This guide will cover all you need to know about this updated Solar Machine Gun.

How good is Avalanche

Adaptive Machine Guns have always been the workhorses- they might not excel at anything, but they do everything pretty well- and the same can be said for Avalanche. While it has the coveted Rewind Rounds + Target Lock roll, this frame isn’t known for its DPS or overall damage. It does, however, have a lot of ad-clear, especially with Dragonfly now rolling opposite of Incandescent. It also has Collective Action and Golden Tricorn to help put down the largest of chaff. And finally, the inclusion of Heal Clip in Column 3 lets this lean into some nice Solar subclass synergy.

In PvP, this weapon has absolutely no potential whatsoever. With Dynamic Sway Reduction and Closing Time rolling in the same column, we lost out on a potentially terrifying Heavy weapon. Nothing about this screams “meta”, unfortunately.

Avalanche Perks & God Rolls

The Avalanche machine gun can roll with the following perks:

• Perk 1: Heal Clip, Dragonfly, Closing Time, Dynamic Sway Reduction, Rewind Rounds, Subsistence, Auto-Loading Holster.
• Perk 2: Collective Action, Golden Tricorn, Firing Line, Dynamic Sway Reduction, Cascade Point, Vorpal Weapon, Incandescent.
• Origin Trait: Dawning Surprise, Suros Synergy.

Avalanche PvE god rolls

Like most machine guns, Avalanche suffers from poor Handling and Stability, so to remedy that, Fluted Barrel is our best friend. And to help with the mag size and Reload Speed, Tactical Mag is great while also buffing Stability just a bit more.

Perk 1 has two very strong perks. Dragonfly is great for ad-clear, especially when paired with Incandescent, and Subsistence lets you take way more advantage of Incandescent.. For Perk 2, Incandescent or Golden Tricorn are equally powerful options. Incandescent’s Scorch is free damage and can ignite if done quick enough, and Golden Tricorn’s 50% damage buff is hard to beat, especially with the amount of ability spam nowadays.

How to get Avalanche

Avalanche is a drop from Destiny 2’s winter holiday event, The Dawning. During this time, you can obtain the weapon by baking cookies for vendors, talking to Eva Levante, and participating in the event.
