Our second Stasis aggressive frame Machine Gun, Ulterior Observation, is not only much easier to farm for, but has a much better perk selection than its predecessor. It also has a killer origin trait that can proc a multitude of perks. This guide will cover all you need to know about it.

How good is Ulterior Observation
Aggressive frame machine guns only came about with The Final Shape, but they quickly became fan favorites. Solid damage at 600 RPM makes them a good mix between Adaptives and Rapid-Fires, and Ulterior’s got the perks to let it shine.
You’ve got your tried and true reload + damage combos, but also more niche picks like Headstone and Rimestealer for Stasis synergy. And while it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, the origin trait’s micro missile is rather fun to use. Ulterior Observation is A-Tier for PvE and A-tier for PvP.

Ulterior Observation Perks and God Rolls
The Ulterior Observation Stasis machine gun can roll with the following perks:
- Perk 1: Demolitionist, Feeding Frenzy, Built to Last, Envious Arsenal, Headstone, Subsistence, Moving Target.
- Perk 2: Closing Time, Dragonfly, Killing Tally, Binary Orbit, Dynamic Sway Reduction, Rimestealer, Adagio.
- Origin Trait: Exhaustive Research.

As is customary with our PvE rolls, Fluted Barrel and Appended Mag are our choices for the first two columns. Both are no-fuss options that provide good benefits to some of the lower stats on Ulterior, and a reload speed Masterwork rounds it all out.
Perk 1’s got some great choices, but Subsistence or Demolitionist are arguably the best meta picks. Subsistence is as simple as it gets, and with how strong grenades can get now, Demolitionist is perfect if you want to lean more into them. Pair these perks with Killing Tally or Dragonfly, respectively, and you’ll have a very lethal tool in your hands.

No matter how much we bump the range stat, the dropoff won’t increase any substantial amount, so instead we are going for Chambered Compensator and Ricochet Rounds to help primarily with stability and recoil direction, with a stability Masterwork as well to keep you on target.
Speaking of targets, Moving Target is your Perk 1 choice. Not much else is going to do you good in PvP, so something that keeps you nimble is perfect. For Perk 2, Closing Time or Dynamic Sway Reduction are perfect since they activate simply by shooting. Closing Time for range, DSR for stability. Whichever one matters more is the one for you.
How to get Ulterior Observation
Ulterior Observation is one of six weapons available from the Kepler destination. It can be obtained through secret chests found throughout the space, The Sieve, Time Latch Missions, and all other things Kepler-related.
