How good is The Inquisitor
The Inquisitor is a Slug Shotgun, which immediately makes it function differently from regular pellet-based shotguns. However, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as due to the Slug-Shotgun archetype, The Inquisitor can kill from up to 10 metres. This places The Inquisitor in a powerful spot inside of PvP, especially considering Slug Shotguns aren’t too bad, particularly options such as The Chaperone or Legato-11.
Unfortunately, in PvE, The Inquisitor falls flat. While players may see Bait and Switch or Cascade Point and get excited, there simply isn’t much value in using many Slug Shotguns outside of a select few, such as Unvoiced or Heritage, compared to regular, pellet-based options. The Inquisitor is C-Tier for PvE and A-tier for PvP.

The Inquisitor PvE god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
Magazine | Assault Mag |
Perk 1 | Envious Assassin |
Perk 2 | Bait and Switch or Cascade Point |
Masterwork | Handling |
Origin Trait | One Quiet Moment |
Handling is often important on Special Weapons, particularly considering we are building this weapon for Bait and Switch, so Fluted Barrel and a Handling Masterwork are ideal. Additionally, Assault Mag boosts the weapon’s DPS slightly, taking it up to 70 rpm.
Perk slot 1 features Envious Assassin, which is really the only viable PvE perk in the first column. For perk 2, Bait and Switch and Cascade Point are both solid options, and your choice of perk will depend on what type of content you are playing.
The Inquisitor PvP god rolls
PvP Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Smallbore |
Magazine | Accurized Rounds |
Perk 1 | Lone Wolf (also good: Threat Detector) |
Perk 2 | Closing Time or Opening Shot |
Masterwork | Range |
Origin Trait | One Quiet Moment |
For PvP, Range is always important, and Stability is nice to have, so Smallbore, Accurized Rounds, and a Range Masterwork are ideal.
For perk 1, Lone Wolf is the best pick as it provides several consistency-based bonuses. However, Threat Detector is a decent alternative. In perk slot 2, Closing Time or Opening Shot are your choices. Both are suitable options, providing the same thing, longer range, and improved accuracy.
How to get The Inquisitor
The Inquisitor is a Trials of Osiris weapon, meaning it comes from Trials of Osiris activities or Saint-14 in the Tower. Once you obtain the weapon, you can focus it at Saint-14 at the cost of engrams and glimmer; however, if it is the featured weekly weapon, you can get an Adept version.
It is also worth noting that The Inquisitor can drop as an additional reward when you finish a Trials of Osiris match, at least up until The Edge of Fate launches later this Summer. You can find the full Trials weapons rotation here.
