Destiny 2 Stars in Shadow: God Rolls & How to get it

by | Sep 6, 2025

Edge of Fate has brought with it a revamp of the hard-hitting Pulse Rifle, Stars in Shadow. This Pulse Rifle is a strong alternative to fan-favorite, The Messenger, and it can definitely hold its own with its new set of perks. This weapon can drop from playing any playlist in The Crucible, making it easy to chase after this god roll.

How good is Stars in Shadow

Being a High-Impact frame, Stars in Shadow excels in PvP, and that’s where Guardians will see it shine the brightest. That said, it has lower base stats compared to its main competitors of similar weapons. Still, its availability from dropping in most PvP playlists makes it easier to find and farm, and thanks to its perk pool, it can be very effective in both PvE and PvP.

A great thing about Stars in Shadow is that there are plenty of strong perks that are interchangeable between PvE and PvP. Rapid Hit, for example, enhances stats that it lacks in other areas, which pairs well with several other perks such as Burning Ambition or Kill Clip. Zen Moment and Keep Away are both effective at gaining the upper hand in a gunfight and locking down areas of a map. Even a mid-tier version can yield great results in the right hands. Stars in Shadow is B-Tier for PvE and A-Tier for PvP.

  • Perk 1: Heal Clip, Keep Away, Rapid Hit, Lone Wolf, Impromptu Ammunition, Zen Moment.

Stars in Shadow PvE god rolls

PvE Roll: All-Around
Barrel Smallbore
Magazine Flared Magwell
Perk 1 Heal Clip
Perk 2 Incandescent
Masterwork Reload Speed
Origin Trait Wild Card

High-Impact Frames don’t come up often in the PvE conversation, but this was previously changed when Elsie’s Rifle appeared with excellent Void-focused perks. Stars in Shadow does the same for the Solar element and can be a real workhorse in the lighter difficulty settings of PvE.

The combination of Heal Clip and Incadecsent is solid when it lands on any Solar weapon, and that is no different here. Stars in Shadow hits hard, and that is exactly how to get the best out of Incandescent, which can make light work of lower-tier mobs. The Scorch and Ignitons caused by this feed directly into Heal Clip, refreshing your health with every reload, can be a run saver in tougher arenas or can just keep you going in the fight to cause more chaos for your enemies.

Solar builds will also benefit greatly from how quickly Stars in Shadow can dispatch foes while causing Scorch and Ignite along the way. This can produce Orbs of Power easily to enhance your Guardian’s power further if built into with Fragments such as Ember of Ashes in play.

Stars in Shadow PvP god rolls

PvP Roll: All-Around
Barrel Arrowhead Brake
Magazine Accurized Rounds
Perk 1 Keep Away (also good: Rapid Hit, Zen Moment)
Perk 2 Headseeker (also good: Kill Clip)
Masterwork Range
Origin Trait Roar of Battle

Stars in Shadow does its best work in PvP and holds some of the best perk combinations for its High-Impact Frame. Arrowhead Brake deserves a mention here due to its benefits with recoil control, as every shot counts when using this type of weapon.

Stars in Shadow excels at winning engagements at Range, and these perks ensure the best chance to do so, which works effectively in 3v3 and 6v6 game modes. Keep Away adds Range, Reload Speed, and Accuracy when no targets are nearby. This plays perfectly into this weapon’s strengths, giving it every advantage down long sight lines or when protecting an area of the map from incoming enemies. Round off with Headseeker, which is the perfect High-Impact Frame perk on the Pulse Rifle due to the ‘burst’ meaning any round that isn’t a headshot will have bonuses to work in your favor. The added Aim Assist and 8% damage increase can be enough to tip a gunfight in your favor during those tight engagements.

For players who prefer a more aggressive playstyle, Zen Moment and Kill Clip make an excellent combo when rolling through the arena and will reward an accurate hand by melting the next target before they even know what hit them.
