How to get Slayer’s Fang
Slayer’s Fang is very simple to obtain. All you have to do is progress the Act 3 Episode: Revenant questline until you can access the Kell’s Fall exotic mission. This mission shouldn’t take too long and is shorter than Encore.
How to get the Slayer’s Fang Catalysts
Slayer’s Fang features four potential Catalysts that can be acquired by completing the small quest chain for each catalyst; here are the options:
- Repulsor Brace
- Loose Change
- Stats for All
- Cascade Point
Slayer’s Fang Intrinsic Perks & God Rolls
The crafted Slayer’s Fang Exotic Void Shotgun can equip the following traits:
- Barrel: Arrowhead Brake, Extended Barrel, Polygonal Rifling, Hammer-Forged Rifling, and Full Bore
- Magazine: Flared Magwell, Steady Rounds, Extended Mag, Assault Mag, and Accurized Rounds
- Trait: Heart Piercer
- Catalyst: Repulsor Brace, Loose Change, Stats for All, and Cascade Point
- Stock: Composite Stock, Hand-Laid Stock, Short-Action Stock, and Fitted Stock.
🚨 We cover how to get its intrinsic perks below.
Slayer’s Fang PvE god roll
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Arrowhead Brake |
| Magazine | Assault Mag |
| Stock | Short-Action Stock |
| Catalyst | Repulsor Brace or Cascade Point |
Handling is appreciated on special ammo weapons, meaning Arrowhead Brake and Short-Action Stock are ideal. Assault Mag is also a nice option for higher RPM on the weapon.
For the catalyst, Repulsor Brace is ideal for buildcrafters, particularly those looking to make a Gyrfalcon build. Thanks to the submunitions, this weapon also works well with Volatile rounds.
Alternatively, Cascade Point can be used as a more DPS-oriented option as, if the numbers on Slayer’s Fang’s damage are good, this Shotgun could be used as an interesting damage backup, similar to how Choir of One can be used.
Slayer’s Fang PvP god roll
| PvP Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Hammer-Forged Rifling |
| Magazine | Accurized Rounds |
| Stock | Short-Action Stock |
| Catalyst Trait | Repulsor Brace |
Range and Handling are essential for Shotguns inside PvP, meaning Hammer-Forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, and Short-Action Stock are all excellent options.
For the catalyst, none of the options are true game changers. However, Repulsor Brace can potentially come in clutch in close-quarters scenarios where you are outnumbered as the submunitions can weaken enemies, granting you an overshield on kill.
Slayer’s Fang Intrinsic Perks
Slayer’s Fang has three intrinsic perk upgrades, all of which are obtainable as hidden collectibles throughout the Kell’s Fall exotic mission. To spawn these collectibles, you’ll need to input some codes through the organ at the beginning of the mission. Note that you’ll need to have cleared the mission twice previously to unlock all the notes on the instrument.
Numbering the notes from left to right, the codes are:
- Nightsworn Sight II: 2-11-1-10-7-6
- Nightsworn Sight III: 1-4-11-1-4-10
- Nightsworn Sight IV: 1-8-1-6
You must step on the plate in the center of the notes to input a code, and then step off to submit it. Additionally, all three codes can be activated in one run, allowing you to fully upgrade Nightsworn Sight in a single clear (without the need to backtrack). We highly recommend inputting all these at the start of your run, and then traveling to the locations below as you traverse the mission.
Collectible #1 Location
The first collectible is practically right next to the organ. If you’re looking at the organ, travel up the flight of stairs to the right (as opposed to the left, which is where you’d go to continue the mission). Continue through the hallways until you see an open door in front of you. Inside this room is the first collectible.
Collectible #2 Location
The second collectible is also before the first encounter. After you enter the first mirror and encounter the group of Husks, continue moving straight towards a now-unlocked door (instead of going right and crossing the larger room) to find the second collectible.
Collectible #3 Location
The third and final collectible is just before the fight with The Mindbender. Immediately upon jumping up into the room with the rally banner, look right—there should be a fire pit for you to activate (it looks to be blocked by chains, but just crouch through). There are two more in the room with the mirror as well—one to the right when you walk in, and another on the far left side. After activating all three, head back to where you jumped in from (next to the rally banner), and you should see an open door waiting for you.
How good is Slayer’s Fang?
Slayer’s Fang features the following unique perks:
- Nightsworn Sight: Dealing final blows to targets grants Nightsworn Sight. During that time, final blows grant Truesight, ammo slowly reloads from reserves, and submunitions weaken targets.
- Heart Piercer: Rounds from this weapon shatter into submunitions on impact. Strong against Overload Champions.
The general sentiment around Slayer’s Fang is “cool, I guess”. This Shotgun doesn’t necessarily break the meta in either PvE or PvP (which is perhaps a good thing), but considering the strength of some recent exotic weapons such as Choir of One or Alethonym, it can be easy to feel slightly let down by Slayer’s Fang. However, just because some previous recent exotics have been remarkably strong doesn’t mean Slayer’s Fang is necessarily a bad weapon.
In PvE, Slayer’s Fang performs admirably. The anti-champion properties and weakening submunitions make this gun an ideal pick in Nightfalls or seasonal activities where Champions are present, as it packs enough of a punch to take down tanky enemies in just a few shots. However, there is always the alternative of Buried Bloodline, which, with its catalyst, weakens on hit anyway while also giving you Devour and much more range.
In PvP, some players might be more excited thanks to the Nightsworn Sight perk, granting Truesight. However, the Truesight doesn’t last long, and it only helps with follow-up kills, not the initial pick. On top of that, Slayer’s Fang feels a bit strange compared to a traditional Slug Shotgun like Chaperone or Duality. However, it is still a Slug Shotgun and can kill at approximately 12 meters. Additionally, if you are Radiant and weaken a nearby enemy with the submunitions, you can 1-shot them to the body, which is always a bonus.
Overall, Slayer’s Fang is A-tier in PvE and PvP.
