How good is Hawthorne’s Field-Forged Shotgun

Hawthorne’s Field-Forged Shotgun is a unique prospect, being the only Lightweight Frame Stasis Shotgun currently in Destiny 2. This opens it up to the top-tier Chill Clip perk, and with how fast it can fire, it will get the best out of this perk with ease. This also posts it pretty high when considering meta picks for a Shotgun. 

It has high-quality perks for PvP too, which means it can easily compensate for any activity in Destiny 2, and these god rolls look to get the best out of its potential. Hawthorne’s Field-Forged Shotgun feels like it could be a surprise package in Renegades and may slip under the radar somewhat due to how many strong weapons have come with this DLC. Hawthorne’s Field-Forged Shotgun is B-Tier for PvE and B-Tier for PvP.

Designed for getting into close-quarters combat and causing havoc, Hawthorne’s Field-Forged Shotgun fits right at home and can do some serious damage.

Start with Smallbore for added Range and Stability to help keep shots accurate when closing the gap and easy to keep on target during each blast. Assault Mag comes in for its RPM increase. Getting shots off faster can be the difference maker in tough encounters.

For the main set of perks, Threat Detector is a great base to work with. Shotguns, by nature, are all about close range, so you will have no problem getting the maximum boosts to Handling, Stability, and Reload Speed, almost maxing out all 3 of these stats. Round off with Chill Clip, a fan-favourite perk across many guns, and no exception here. Ensure this weapon is loaded so the top half of the magazine can hit the target with slow and ultimately freeze them. Great for working on tankier enemies to slow them down and freeze them in place for the Fireteam to unleash damage on them.

Hawthorne’s Field-Forged Shotgun has all the right perks to carve itself a strong position in PvP, and this god roll helps get the best out of it.

Kick this one off with Barrel Shroud for a flat boost to Stability and Handling, while Accurized Rounds adds a boost to Range to help when closing the gap on opponents.

For the main perks, two that work together to great effect are Slideshot and Closing Time. Sliding can add any reserved rounds to the Magazine while simultaneously boosting Stability and Range. As it will be a rare occurrence for the Magazine to be at capacity due to the Special ammo interaction in the current sandbox, Closing Time will benefit from this greatly with its increases to accuracy, Range, and Handling, making Hawthorne’s Field-Forged Shotgun a deadly weapon when up close to your enemies.
