With Episode: Heresy now released, Guardians are storming back into Destiny 2 to grab some new gear. Luckily, with multiple new and refreshed activities (in addition to the expected Episodic ones), there seems to be no shortage of exciting loot this time around.
Today, we’ll cover one of the more underrated Heretical weapons that is new in this episode: Division.

How good is Division
Division is sure to be overshadowed by its rocket-assisted sidearm competition, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad—in fact, it’s one of the better standard sidearms to be released recently.
The fact that Division lacks Rolling Storm (the game’s newest Arc perk) is a bit strange, but isn’t the biggest deal. Especially with Voltshot, the weapon still excels at complementing builds of the same element, which is the main purpose of most primary weapons these days.
Division also does alright in The Crucible, where its solid set of perks helps it to excel in close-range engagements. That said, Division is by no means meta-defining, meaning non-sidearm users likely won’t bat an eye towards farming it. Division is A-Tier for PvE and A-tier for PvP.

Our PvE roll with begin with Fluted Barrel, Tactical Mag, and a handling masterwork, a classic combination that provides a nice balance of potent stats for PvE.
Eddy Current isn’t an absurdly popular pick these days, but it’s the best the first column has here. Plus, it fits nicely with our final perk pick, which is Voltshot. Assuming you’re rocking an Arc build (which will be more potent this Episode through the artifact!), this combination is great for more casual activities.

Building into the range stat of this weapon doesn’t actually increase its effective range much, so we’ll instead prioritize stability. Smallbore, Steady Rounds, and a stability masterwork are perfect for this.
To the Pain is our choice for column one, which is great since you’re likely to be taking a lot of damage when fighting so close range. As for the second column, Sword Logic is our top pick, which allows for a 0.47s (two burst) time to kill against all resilience levels.
How to get Division
As all Heretical weapons from Episode 3, you can obtain the Divisionfrom all Heresy activities, most notably the new Nether activity. We cover all Heretical weapons here.
Additionally, you can focus the weapon at the Tome of Want for an additional cost by using Scriptures, making it worthwhile to gather materials to get your hands on a good roll of this weapon.
