Diablo 4 Class Tier List: Season 4

by | May 14, 2024

After the changes introduced with Season 4: Loot Reborn, you’re probably wondering what is the best Diablo 4 Class right now. You want a class that is fun and effective when leveling up but also strong enough to hold its own in the endgame.

This guide takes into account the Leveling, Endgame, and Casual experiences to present you with the best Diablo 4 Classes this season.

Diablo 4 Best Class in Season 4: Loot Reborn

As expected, Season of the Loot Reborn and Patch 1.4.0 brought significant balance updates, buffs, nerfs, and item changes. Blizzard’s ultimate goal is to bring each Class closer to each other in terms of lethality and effectiveness, and Season 4 has brought us closer to that vision than ever.

In other words, all classes are viable and relevant, even those ranked last. For instance, while Rogue is ranked as “worst” for Endgame, It can still compete in Endgame activities. It’s just not as strong as the other Classes. Last but not least, unlike previous Class Tier lists that had to be built solely with theory-crafting, Season 4’s meta was tested in a PTR (Public Test Realm):

These are the different Tier levels used for our list:

  • S Tier – Best: Highest ranking Classes right now.
  • A Tier – Strong: Very strong Classes, but not on the same level as S Tier choices.
  • B Tier – Average: Decent Classes that can be lethal in the hands of a skilled player.
  • C Tier – Weak: The somewhat mediocre Classes.
  • D Tier – Worst: Lagging behind the competition, these don’t have much to offer.

To give credit where credit is due, Raxxanterax did an excellent video with his take on Diablo 4’s S4 Tier list. He’s an extremely knowledgeable D4 player, and I agree with most of his points. This guide echoes many of his takes.

Diablo 4 Season 4 Tier List: Ranked from Worst to Best

In Season 4, Classes stand closer together in terms of potency and survivability than ever. The difference in strength between the “worst” and “best” classes has never been smaller.

Rogue Class Diablo 45. Rogues: C Tier (Weak)

Ranking Rogues last and calling them “weak” was a tough call. As said before, Rogues will remain viable everywhere in the game, including the endgame, but they require much more work than the other classes.

Rogues used to have it all. They had good survivability, excellent mobility, and top-tier DPS. This was especially true for its then top-tier Twisting Blades build. But Twisting Blades has been nerfed, leaving us with harder-to-use builds. Rogues are much more challenging to play than the other classes. To succeed, especially in the endgame, you’ll need either a very specific and sophisticated build or you’ll need to play extremely well to make up for the class’ weaknesses.

Druid Class Diablo 44. Druids: B Tier (Average)

Druid remains one of the best endgame classes in Diablo 4, but its leveling experience remains the worst in the entire game.

This makes Druid a polarizing class. It’s not great for casual players, as they’ll need to spend a lot of time farming very specific Aspects and Uniques to put together the best builds. Plus, Druids are simply the slowest class for Leveling.

However, if you’re prepared to go through the slog of leveling a Druid, it will reward you substantially for your efforts. In the Endgame, Druids are one of the best classes out there due to their insane survivability, perhaps the best in the game, and top-tier damage. Keep an eye out for the Werewolf Tornado build, which promises to be top-tier this season.

Sorcerer Class Diablo 43. Sorcerers: A Tier (Great)

Sorcerers remain incredibly strong for leveling and offer insane mobility overall. They can hold their own in the endgame, but they can’t match the meta classes, mostly due to their low survivability and limited single-target DPS.

The top Sorcerer leveling builds are top tier and can breeze to level 50 with ease. Plus, their excellent mobility is still the best in the game. What holds Sorcerers back is their survivability. Sorcerer has always felt like a glass cannon, and while several patches have progressively remedied the issue, their survivability is far from Barbs or Druids’.

Barbarian Class Diablo 42. Barbarians: A Tier (Great)

Barbarian is one of the strongest classes right now, and you can expect it to become stronger throughout the season. Because of its 4 weapons, Barbs will probably benefit more from the new Tempering and Masterworking mechanics than the other classes.

While the Barb will excel in the endgame because of its insanely high survivability and high DPS builds, they still struggle in during the leveling phase. Barbs won’t be as weak as Druids when it comes to leveling, but expect them to be the second worst. Last but not least, Barbarians lost 10% Damage Resistance, which is one of the reasons they went from the Number 1 class last season to Number 2 this season.

Necromancer Class Diablo 41. Necromancers: S Tier (Best)

Necromancers are getting massive buffs, especially for their minions. That alone is catapulting the Necromancer class to the number 1 spot for both Leveling and Endgame.

The Necromancer’s biggest weakness remains its lack of mobility, but expect its minions and top-tier Necromancer leveling builds to carry you to level 50 fast. Minion Builds have never been stronger, and they should help you conquer the endgame, including the endgame bosses, with ease.

Best Diablo 4 Class for End Game

As of the release of Season of Loot Reborn, the best Diablo 4 Classes for the Endgame are Necromancers and Druid.

This tier list is heavily weighted by how Classes perform in the endgame, which starts after conquering the Fallen Temple Capstone Dungeon and reaching World Tier 4 (Torment) at level 70. At this point, most players will focus on min-maxing their builds, farming the best Ancestral items possible, and finding the required Unique items to perfect their build (which may or may not include a new Unique or an Uber Unique item). The endgame culminates with the Uber Bosses.

Perfecting your build and chasing the exact Legendary Aspects, Affixes, and Uniques are Diablo’s core experience. This is why this Tier list, and most other tier lists online, focus on the endgame side of D4. However, a huge part of the community never truly experiences that side of the game, which is why the “Casual-Play” part of our Tier list is important too.

Best Class in Diablo 4 for Leveling

As of the release of Season 4: Loot Reborn, the best Diablo 4 Classes for Casuals are Sorcerer and Necromancer.

Before you laugh and skip this section thinking there’s no way you’re a Casual, let’s make one thing clear: Most players in Diablo 4 are “casuals.” But being a Casual in Diablo 4 is not a bad thing. This is an extremely grindy game that requires hours of play per day to reach level 100 with a fully decked character. That is simply hard to achieve for most players with demanding jobs and/or a family.

Casuals are those players that can play between 5 to 10 hours per week. They enjoy the leveling process, aim for World Tier 4, and want to complete the Season Pass as their ultimate goal before a Season ends.
