How good is the Refurbished A499
Refurbished A499 might have a mediocre set of perks, but it features one of the most powerful archetypes in the game. In PvE, it can put out massive numbers that compare to some premier DPS strats, especially when considering the potential to animation-cancel when reloading.
Going into more detail, Refurbished A499 does 2362 damage per shot at 72rpm, meaning that its basic DPS sits at 2834. Which, for low-maintenance damage, is really good — it’s generally going to rival, if not beat, other legendary DPS strategies for sustained DPS, and could even see some rotation potential with the now-buffed Izanagi’s Burden. The only downside is its weaker perk pool, but it competes very well despite it.
In PvP, it’s simply niche due to being a Heavy weapon, and so it’s not doing anything groundbreaking in comparison to the rest of the sandbox. Refurbished A499 is S-Tier for PvE and B-tier for PvP.

Refurbished A499 PvE god rolls
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Arrowhead Brake |
| Magazine | Flared Magwell |
| Perk 1 | Snapshot Sights |
| Perk 2 | Aggregate Charge |
| Masterwork | Handling |
We’re going for a version to be used with a wider swap-DPS rotation rather than just sustaining DPS. If you do want to just fire away with it, however, make sure to max out Reload Speed instead of Handling wherever you can. This is crucial to improving the feel of this weapon. Otherwise, Handling is the name of the game here, to make swaps more quickly.
The first perk column hasn’t really got much going for it. Snapshot Sights is good quality of life, especially when enhanced, providing 5 extra points in Stability. But you can practically take any perk here, as the selection is pretty weak.
The second column also leaves a lot to be desired. Our pick is Aggregate Charge, which can give a hefty buff to the weapon but does require setup — but it’s the only real option for DPS perks on this weapon. If you do want to fire away, there is an argument for Box Breathing here, but even then, it requires you to do less damage overall.
Refurbished A499 PvP god rolls
| PvP Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
| Magazine | Steady Rounds |
| Perk 1 | Snapshot Sights (also good: Lone Wolf) |
| Perk 2 | Mulligan |
| Masterwork | Handling |
In PvP, we really want to focus on quality of life. The Range is already there, as the Refurbished A499 is generally a one-shot kill at most effective ranges, so balancing out the downsides of using the weapon is the real focus.
With this, balancing out Handling and Stability is important, and so our choices do reflect that. Snapshot Sights provides extra quality of life due to both feeling nicer and also providing an extra 5 points in stability, whereas Lone Wolf is decent if you’re not confident in hitting your shots.
In the second column, there isn’t much, so Mulligan is the only really relevant pick, as it can sometimes refund your ammo if you miss. This is relevant as the sniper requires Heavy ammo, and so it can be helpful sometimes.
How to get the Refurbished A499
