How good is Drang
Drang is part of a set giving bonuses to the Exotic weapon, Sturm (we cover how to get Sturm here), giving it a unique archetype, but it’s definitely not necessary to feed into it to get the best out of Drang. Out of all similar 300RPM, Drang is easily the best of the current set. Easily holding the best perks for PvE and a solid PvP build, Drang easily backs up its stats with strong rolls.
Sidearms are great in the current meta when closing the gap on opponents. With plenty of longer-range weapons being currently used in the sandbox, Drang can be a real difference maker when in close combat. Carrying perk combinations that work great against a large number of enemies to clear a room or to be the difference maker in tight matches, Drang does feel like it can do it all, which makes this particular return exciting. Drang is A-Tier for PvE and A-Tier for PvP.

Drang PvE god rolls
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Arrowhead Brake |
| Magazine | Flared Magwell |
| Perk 1 | Heal Clip (also good: Envious Assassin) |
| Perk 2 | Incandescent (also good: Aggregate Charge, Frenzy) |
| Masterwork | Reload Speed |
| Origin Trait | Vanguard Determination |
Arrowhead Brakes for recoil control and added Handling start Drang off well. With Flared Magwell coming in for its large boost to Reload Speed, which feeds into its main gunplay loop.
Heal Clip and Incandescent are up there as one of the best combinations in Destiny 2, and Drang does it justice here with its powerful hits and consistency, which makes it a very easy-to-use weapon. Drang will make light work of lower-tier enemies, spreading Scorch and possibly Ignitions easily with its quick fire rate when bearing down on tougher foes. Any reload after kill gives a health boost to really feed into Drang’s ‘run and gun’ excellence in PvE.
Keep an eye out for Aggregate Charge rolls for the simple fact that at full flow, it will provide a huge 40% damage bonus, which is only short in time but could absolutely melt larger opponents in higher-tier content.
Drang PvP god rolls
| PvP Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
| Magazine | Accurized Rounds |
| Perk 1 | Moving Target |
| Perk 2 | Eye of the Storm (also good: Master of Arms) |
| Masterwork | Range |
| Origin Trait | Roar of Battle |
Sidearms can be pretty hot in PvP when used the right way, and Drang will be a sought-after weapon for fans of the playstyle. Fluted Barrel starts this one for a boost to Handling, which improves ready speed when switching to Drang.
Moving Target comes in for its added Aim Assist and movement speed, making the reticle feel more sticky and improving the user’s strafe speed, giving Drang the upper hand in close-quarters combat. Round off with Eye of the Storm, which may seem like a negative loop due to its buffs coming from receiving damage. However, it’s more beneficial because there’s a chance that while closing the gap, you may take a few shots, or if you get caught and the opponents rush to clean up the kill, Drang will be buffed up to catch your opponents off guard and make the save.
How to get Drang
Drang is a potential drop from completions of Solo and Fireteam Ops activities and also upon completion of matches in The Crucible. It may also become a featured weapon, so keep an eye on The Portal each day for an increased chance at a drop. We cover all Portal Ops weapons here.
