Act 3 of Episode: Echoes is here, and with it comes even more new and exciting content. Perhaps the most anticipated item of the drop is Choir of One, an exotic auto rifle that uses special ammo.
Like many other recent exotic weapons, Choir of One isn’t just a random world drop—it has a quest and unique mission. Today, we’ll cover exactly how to unlock and complete the Encore: Overture mission, earning you both seasonal loot and the Choir of One exotic weapon.

How to Unlock Encore: Overture
The Encore: Overture mission is a part of the Episode: Echoes storyline. More specifically, it’s the first step of Act 3’s segment. After viewing a cutscene and speaking with Failsafe in the H.E.L.M, you’ll be directed to launch the mission through the H.E.L.M’s map directory.
How to Complete Encore: Overture
Traversing Nessus’ Core
Encore: Overture begins where the previous story mission left off. Begin by running towards the right wall of the open area, ascending up a ramp that spans the length of the wall. Then, look down and to your left; you should see a large sphere with an open hole on the top. Jump in and continue forward.
Most of the jumping here is straightforward, with the exception of one room (pictured here). To escape it, use the moving platforms in the center of the wall to go up (jump to the glowing platform in the image, then run directly towards the wall). Continue doing this until you move past two small drop-downs. Immediately after, turn right into the purple hole—this will allow you to progress further.
Introduction to Connection and Partition Modules
After traversing far enough, you’ll come across enemies and a vex terminal unique to this mission. For now, this specific one (that says it requires a Connection module) is useless, so continue forward.
Soon enough, you’ll enter a room with tons of additional Connection terminals, one of which will house the Connection module buff itself (denoted by a bright, non-flashing hologram). This buff (as well as the other two present in the mission) does nothing when held—its effects are only seen when depositing it at a terminal. In the case of Connection, depositing it at a terminal will spawn additional platforms near the dunk location.
In this room specifically, you’ll need to deposit the buff in each of the three terminals, which then reveal pathways to access a conflux. Accessing all three confluxes opens the exit door. In the case of one of the three confluxes, a second buff (Partition, which removes walls/platforms) is needed. It will drop from a minotaur near the dunk terminal. Once you’ve activated all three confluxes, place the Connection buff in the center terminal to open the exit.
After progressing through the exit pathway, you’ll soon need to grab another Connection buff and run backward. Continue through until you return to the first puzzle room, where you’ll be able to use the second Connection buff to return to the original terminal you saw outside and complete the mini-encounter.
Continue through Nessus’ Core
After completing the first puzzle room, you’ll continue through more jumping areas. Part of the way through, you’ll come across the third and final buff unique to this mission: Access. This buff activates a vex portal when deposited, and is present throughout the rest of the mission. Use it to continue forward (you’ll need to play leap frog with two copies of the buff at one point), eventually getting to the first actual encounter.
Defeating Eexonios and Iziira
This encounter is pretty straightforward, especially compared to previous puzzles. Here, you’ll encounter two bosses—a Tormentor and an Omen. Each time you get one to a health threshold, you’ll need to use an Access buff to progress to the next room. Continue doing this until you return to the room you started in, where you’ll finish off both bosses at once and complete the encounter.
Exploring Maya’s Experiments
The final intermission portion of this mission doesn’t contain any buff/module usage—just continue forward while defeating vex forces along the way. Eventually, you’ll come across an interact prompt, revealing some story-related dialogue and opening the path to the final boss.
Defeating Parodos, Choral Mind
After beginning the encounter, defeat the Independent Variable minotaur to obtain the Connection module. Deposit this in the center, then interact with the conflux that appears. This will result in the Choral Mind teleporting to either the back left or back right of the arena. Use the Connection buff to spawn platforms on whichever side Parodos is on (deposit the buff on the floating platform, not near the portal). This will spawn a vex plate on the revealed platforms, which you’ll need to capture to take down Parodos’ shield. After capturing the plate and shooting a node that spawns near Parodos, the damage phase will begin.
After taking down half of the Choral Mind’s HP, a complication will arise—death walls will spawn between the room’s three segments, requiring you to use the Access buff to move between them. Other than that, however, the fight functions exactly as we described above: interact with the conflux in the center, use the Connection buff to spawn a plate near the boss, capture it, shoot the node near the boss, and damage.
The final bit of Parodos’ health requires you to return to the center portion of the arena and shoot a node from there. There are reports that this portion is bugged and can soft-lock the encounter, but as a general rule, be sure to be in the same room segment as the boss if you’re trying to capture a plate or shoot a node.
Defeating Parodos completes the mission, granting you your first version of Chorus of One. More copies (complete the additional perks and all) can be obtained as a crafted version, available in the Enclave on Mars.

The Biggest Exotic Mission to Date?
Robbie Stevens, Destiny 2’s assistant game director, said Encore is their biggest Exotic Mission yet:
It is one of the biggest Exotic missions we’ve ever built, and it’s only possible because of this new content cadence. The ability for us to build this massive Exotic mission – literally one of the biggest – it wouldn’t have been possible in the past.
Do you agree?
