After years of having to farm Lost Sectors for Exotics, Bungie finally gave us a proper method to target farm Exotic armor: Focused Decoding. And this includes the brand-new Exotic Armor released each Season/Episode.
Focused Decoding allows us to spend currencies to focus Exotic Engrams into specific Exotics (or Exotic families). This guide tells you everything you need to know to get the most out of this feature.
What is Focused Decoding?
Since Season 21, Exotic engrams no longer auto-decrypt but now sit in your engram inventory. Thanks to Exotic Decoding, players can now focus Exotic Engrams into specific Exotic armor pieces. You have three Exotic Focusing options:
- Daily Decryption Deal: Focs an engram into a specific Slot (Chest, Helm, Arms, Legs) for free.
- Advanced Decryption: Focus an engram into an Exotic from a specific expansion.
- Precision Decryption: Focus an engram into the exact Exotic you want (for example, a random roll of the Synthoceps Titan Exotic arms).
How to get the New Revenant Exotic Armor
To unlock the new Exotic Armor released this Episode, you must reset your Rank at Master Rahool, located in the Tower. To reset your Rank, you’ll need to earn reputation, and to earn reputation, you’ll have to decrypt Exotic engrams. Keep in mind that the most expensive Decryptions grant significantly more reputation:
- Simple Decryption: +150 Reputation
- Advanced Decryption: +250 Reputation
- Precision Decryption: +500 Reputation
Note that several Precision Decryptions will be needed to reset your reputation.

The requirements are the following:
- Advanced Decryption: Ownership of the associated expansion and having previously acquired all armor pieces within the engram for your class.
- Precision Decryption: Ownership of the associated expansion and having previously acquired that piece of armor.
Alternatively, if you do not meet these requirements or simply do not want to spend your precious resources on decrypting Exotics, you can decrypt the engrams for free. This will give you a random drop from the standard Exotic engram pool.

Not all Exotic armor was created equal. In spite of Bungie routinely buffing and nerfing specific Exotics every Season, some will always be superior. Some are definitely more worth farming than others. To help you figure this out, we recommend checking our Warlock, Titan, and Hunter Exotic tier lists.
