The Allen 05 may not beat the top dogs, but it’s by no means a slouch coming with very desirable PvE and PvP options.

How good is ALLEN 05
The ALLEN 05 is a straightforward Sniper. With good but not great perks, it doesn’t quite beat out options like Praedyth’s Revenge or Conspiracy Honed, and it isn’t helped by its Adaptive Frame, but despite this, it’s still definitely a valid option, and the best Strand Sniper option available unless you want to hop into the Desert Perpetual raid.
In PvE, it has Fourth Time’s the Charm which is a great option as it is both ammo-efficient and helps with DPS, but the second column slightly lets it down. Precision Instrument takes time to ramp up and is very punishing, and Firing Line is simply worse than the competition (and it requires allies). This makes ALLEN 05 a better-than-average option, but not one that will break the stronghold that certain Rapid-Fire Frame Snipers have right now on the Sniper meta.
In PvP, ALLEN 05 is solid, but most will likely prefer snappier options. 40 Zoom is nice, but Lone Wolf and Moving Target will probably not be the preference of most players, even if it is quite a solid combo. ALLEN 05 is A-Tier for PvE and B-tier for PvP.

ALLEN 05 Perks and God Rolls
The ALLEN 05 Strand Sniper Rifle can roll with the following perks:
- Perk 1: Fourth Time’s the Charm. Lone Wolf, Built to Blast, Tear, Outlaw, Shoot to Loot, and Lucky Shot.
- Perk 2: Firing Line, Precision Instrument, Mega Kill Clip, Hatchling, Moving Target, Butterfly, and To The Pain.
- Origin Trait: Carrion Munitions.

Fluted Barrel and Tactical Mag are our picks for the Barrel and Magazine, as they simply make the gun feel nicer to use. This is, of course, accompanied by a Handling masterwork to bump that Handling even higher.
For perks, Fourth Time’s the Charm is the only real option in the first column. Being great for both total damage and DPS, you can’t really go wrong with it. Perk 2 is pretty straightforward as well, with Precision Instrument and Firing Line both being the best picks for this slot for the damage boost.

Because this weapon might feel a bit sluggish, we want to improve the Handling as much as possible while boosting the Stability to reduce flinch. A Handling or Stability Masterwork also helps with this.
For perks, it’s very straightforward. Lone Wolf and Moving Target are the only PvP-oriented perks available. These two perks will make it quite simple to hit your shots thanks to the whopping 83 Aim Assistance with both Lone Wolf and Moving Target active (even more when enhanced!)
How to get ALLEN 05
The ALLEN 05 can drop from participating in Distortions, with higher tiered weapons awarded from public events. Distortions are enhanced Patrol zones in which enemies become distorted, making them tougher, more aggressive, and more dangerous. As explained by Bungie, Distortions offer unique rewards:
We’re making Distortions uniquely rewarding by providing a new weapon set players can earn in these new events and, to balance the increased challenge of Distorted enemies, you’ll see higher gear tiers awarded from playing public events.
