Zephyr is the returning Dawning Sword coming with this year’s rendition of the event. With some new perks and old classics, Zephyr is bound to be a solid option for any Sword enthusiasts.

How good is Zephyr
This sword is one of the few Stasis Swords in the game, and it comes with a bunch of standard Sword perks such as Relentless Strikes, Whirlwind Blade, and Surrounded. The lack of Eager Edge makes this Sword slightly less appealing to some, but the potential with Attrition Orbs as a sustained Surge and healing generator can’t be ignored.
Swords typically aren’t used in PvP unless they have Eager Edge, meaning Zephyr will probably see next to no use in PvP settings, as you will normally want to go for something like a Grenade Launcher or Machine Gun anyway. Overall, Zephyr is A-tier for PvE and D-tier for PvP.

Zephyr is no different from other swords, meaning we’ll go for the standard Jagged Edge and Swordmaster’s Guard combination for maximum damage potential.
In terms of perks, Relentless Strikes and Whirlwind Blade are the straightforward damage combo. However, Attrition Orbs is a unique alternative that can be used to maintain weapon surge bonuses or provide a source of healing through mods or Fragments on specific subclasses like Prismatic. While Whirlwind Blade may be the standard damage pick due to it’s ease of use, Surrounded, when applicable, has a higher damage cap, meaning it may be good to have a Surrounded option available for those DPS situations where you can activate this perk.
How to get Zephyr
Zephyr is a drop from Destiny 2’s winter holiday event, The Dawning. During this time, you can obtain the weapon by baking cookies for vendors, talking to Eva Levante, and participating in the event.
